You lived in Columbus Ohio, a place where alot of people knew eachother. You were 16 years old. You weren't really popular or anything, you were mostly shy. But you usually open up to people when you get to know them better.

Little did you know the best person in you're life would meet you at a small playground next to you're house.

You were walking home from school and you thought the best place to study was the park because you loved being outdoors. You sat on a bench behind the swings, watching little kids run around and have fun with their friends. You had no friends. You're life was tough. Ever since you're dad died when you were 10, you suddenly felt pain and sadness that occured everyday which is one of the reasons you're shy. You're older brother moved to Los Angeles a year ago. Now you just live with you're mother and you're pet hamster, Socks.

You took you're math book out you're backpack and proceeded to read. You didn't mind the screaming children at all but you were jealous that they had some friends and you didn't.

All of a sudden a basketball hit you in the head and you yelled "Ow". You dropped you're book in the sand and rubbed you're head.

"I'm very sorry." A boy with fluffy brown hair and Mocha eyes said.
He kneeled down to pick up you're book and got on one knee. You forgot there was a basketball court behind the bench.

"I-It's okay." you said, softly taking the book out his hands.

"Are you sure? Where does it hurt?" The young boy asks. He was very tall.

"The top of my head. It's fine though." Your voice trembled.
You sounded very quiet.
The boy gets up and snatches the basketball out the sand.

"I'm Tyler. Nice to meet you" he says turning his head.

"I-I'm y/n" you say, tilting you're head down and tucking you're bangs out you're face.

"Hey, don't be shy I won't bite." he says in a soft tone which makes you feel a bit safer.

He sits on the bench next to you and rolls the basketball around in his hands.

The air began to feel a bit colder and you forgot to bring you're sweater. The goosebumps started to rise from you're delicate skin. You quickly put the book back in you're backpack and crossed you're arms.

Tyler was distracted. He was staring all around the park until he looked down at you.

"Are you cold? Here take my sweater." He took off his black adidas sweater and handed it to you.

"Really? But it yours." you shivered.

"Yeah, but you're wearing a T-shirt. I am already wearing a long sleeved shirt. Please y/n, take it."

You decided to give in and wear the sweater. He smiled.
He was adorable and you felt butterflies in you're stomach. No one has ever given up their sweater for you.

"O-Oh I have to go home." you turned to Tyler.

"You want me to walk you?" he asks.

"Its fine."

"You sure?"

"Okay you can come I guess."
You said.

You and Tyler walk out the playground, him bouncing the basketball on the pavement even when you guys cross the street.

"Okay so if you turn left from here my house is not that far down." you pointed. You and Tyler walked side to side.

"Now I know where you live." he nudged you and laughed.

"Oh my gosh." you laughed, cupping you're mouth.

You stopped outside you're house and stared at it.

"Are you always shy?" he turned around and stared at you.

"Well for about 6 years I guess." you said scratching the back of you're head with a frown.

"Why is that?" his smile fades away.

"Lots of things happened in the past. I've never had any real friends for the past 6 years." you said looking down at your toes.

"I'll be you're friend!" He walks in front of you and places one hand on you're shoulder while the other holding the basketball to his side.

"R-Really?" you start to smile.

"Yeah we can hang out sometime to get to know eachother more." He says.

"I feel better." you tilt you're head up and look at him.

"Oh heres you're sweater-"

"No, have it. I have too much anyways." he cuts you off.

"No, really you should-"

"Please?" He begs. His voice sounds soft.

"Fine. Thank you Tyler, thats really sweet." You say.

"No problem. Hope you're head feels better." He waves you goodbye and turns around, walking away from you but still bouncing the ball.

You felt happier. A new friend. But he will find out your past soon. The butterflies in your stomach begin to die away as you head inside you're home.
