"I can't do this anymore," she whispered, a tremor present in her limbs. "The pain, the sadness, that is coming with this. I can't handle it," she spoke as her eyes were trained on the floor.

"No, please, trust me. You can. You're the strongest person I've ever known. I've seen you tackle bigger hardships than this. Just don't give up just yet. You've held on for so long," he pleaded, his arms gripping her hands. He dropped one if her hands, bringing his long, nimble fingers beneath her chin, gently pushing it upwards. He felt the sadness overwhelming the room they stood in, coming off of his love in waves. He did everything he could to be the only positive energy in the room, not letting the waves bring him under as well.

"I can't so it anymore. Everything in life is temporary. Maybe we were just a little less temporary than other things."

"Why does this have to be the end of us?"

"Because, I'm trying to minimize the people I hurt when I end up going. Lessen the blow that you will inevitably feel. Please, I love you, but we both knew this wasn't going to last. This is, undoubtedly, one of the last times I'm going to see you-"

"Please, don't talk like that. You'll make it. You've made it this far, even with all the negative things said. Who's to say you won't be here in 40, 50 years? Please, just hold on. for me," he begged, trying anything to get her to stay positive, to stay with him, to stay living, rather than just being alive.

"No, I'm sorry. I can't bring myself to hurt you that much," she whispered, dropping his one hand that still held tightly onto hers, like he was trying to hold her from leaving.

"Please," he spoke, almost in audibly, as she turned, walking away from him, her head down. he couldn't help it when his knees buckled and he fell to the ground in a quiet huddle, crying; and it wasn't one of those loud cries. It was that heartbreaking, silent cries that shows that someone is so broken, they are unable to make a sound.
