The door had been locked ever since Coraline closed it, but the key had been lost along the way. It was a small black key-it was hand crafted by the Beldam herself but had been lost in the real world somewhere. Fortunately for her, those living within the house’s walls found the key and each time were lead right into her web. Coraline though was a smart girl and was able to trick the Beldam herself and saved herself and her family. !
Coraline returned about 10 years later to the Pink Palace, so she explored each part of the old house looking for Mr. Bobinski and the retired theatrical women. “I’m sorry Ms. Caroline, but Ms. Spink and Ms. Forcible died a few years back and Mr. Bobinski left to join a mouse circus. As of right now the Pink Palace Apartment is empty.” !
The lady told Coraline that she could take a look around the house if she wanted since it was going to be demolished in a week. “So now it just sits there rotting, waiting to be destroyed I guess.” The lady then gestured for Coraline to follow her up the porch. !

Once inside all the memories of the old house came flooding back into Coraline’s head. The first thing she did was to see if the door was there and if it were still bricked up. !
“What happened to the door?” Coraline asked.!
“Oh that! Well after your family left they tore down the door and replaced it with this wall to make sure the Beldam, whatever that is, wouldn’t hurt anyone else,” said the lady. !
The whole house was basically the same as before except for little differences like cracks in the ceiling and windows or the molding corners of the each room. The last place Coraline checked was her bedroom, which was still as leaky as when she left it 10 years ago. !

There was an old lady outside watering the garden. The old lady started walking to Coraline then grabbed her hand. She placed a black key in her hand then said “I have what you need and you have what I need”. !
Coraline was confused. After the old lady took the key out of her hand then went back to water the rose bush that had blossomed into a beautiful bush.The old lady started talking to Coraline again and said “I know where he is”. then Coraline realised that she looked familiar but she couldn’t remember where she saw the lady.!

Coraline raced away and while she was running she looked back to see if she was being watched. The old lady disappeared but a black object was lying on the ground. Coraline crept back, making sure she wasn’t being watch. Coraline realised that it was the same black key that opens the door.! !
Coraline raced back to her old flat and knocked on the door, there was no answer. Coraline continued to knock but there was still no answer. A bright light flashed onto Coraline’s faced then continued to move across the hallway wall. She went over to where the light was coming from, It came from a gap in the wall just big enough for her to get in. !

Coraline crawled through the hole into her old flat, then quickly crept to the door at the end of the hall way. The door knob was a bit rusted but Coraline could fit the key in. She unlocked the door and opened it. A familiar sound ringed through Coraline’s ears, It was the Black Cat but she was chained up by an old black, rusted chain with red blood on it. The Black Cat was trembling with fear. Coraline thought that if the black key could open the door that maybe the key could unlock the chain.
As Coraline was about to unlock it she heard a voice say “Stop right there!”. It was the old lady from the garden. She got up and started walking towards her. She stopped in front of Coraline and went to reach and grab her but instead she grabbed her own face pulled it off revealing that she was her ‘Other Mother ’. Coraline replied to her in a shaky voice and said “W-w-wha what are y- you doing here?” !
Her ‘Other Mother” replied, “I’m here to gain my revenge on you and your family for unveiling me and for taking what is mine”. Snatching the key back out of Coraline hand but Coraline didn’t let go and started pulling it back then snatched it out of her ‘Other Mother’s’ hand and then unlocking the chain and setting the Black Cat free. Coraline’ ‘Other Mother’ exclaimed “You win this time but be warned you will pay Coraline Jones, you will PAY!” Then disappeared into the darkness. !
Coraline picked up the Black and ran out of the room locking it behind her and crawling back through the gap in the wall.!
