Chapter Two.

I watched my body as it lay there, cold, unmoving, dead. The color was completely drained out of me. It looked so unfamiliar. My voice trembled as the doctors made their way out of the operating room.

"Wait!" I begged, "Please. I'm still alive, I'm right here!" Tears streamed down my face.

"Shhh," I stopped sniffling when I heard someone shushing me. I concentrated more on the empty room, searching for the origin of the voice. " My...what a healthy, young soul." I continued glancing around the empty room, until I heard someone giggle behind me. I whipped around, only to find no one there. The room was empty but I still felt a presence. Taunting me.

"Hey! Show yourself!" I shouted out in the empty room. A shadow shifted where the operating lights were.

"Such an impatient young girl you are." The voice belonged to a woman; she sounded like she was in her mid thirties, with a soft french accent.

"Who are you? Did you come to take me away?" I asked timidly, afraid of what would happen to me next. I heard a hypnotic soft laugh from beside me, and quickly turned to see who it was.

"You can't see me child. However I can show you something, something truly exquisite," Her voice slithered around my head, making me feeling light.

"Wha-What is it?" I stuttered, searching for her again.

"Just let me show you, child," she hushed, beckoning me with her voice.

"Sh-Show me?"

I looked around once more. In the corner of my eye I saw a twitch on the operating table, and turned to see myself still lying there. Curiously, I stepped forward to my empty shell, and studied my own face. I wasn't exactly the most attractive girl, but I still had some feminine features. My long lashes created shadows underneath my eyes, and my high cheekbones gave my face structure. I stared harder at my sleeping face when my eyes suddenly snapped open.

I jumped back. A scream stuck in my throat, trying to escape. Oh my God, I've turned into a zombie. I thought, This must be a nightmare! My body moved itself into a sitting position and turned it's head slowly towards me, like an owl would. With a single finger, it beckoned me to come closer. I froze on the spot. Suddenly, my legs started to move without my control, like I was being pulled forward by an invisible force. I stared into the eyes that looked straight back at me.

They weren't my old dark blue eyes, but new bright violet ones replaced them. I stopped just in front of myself and saw my own reflection in my shell's eyes, my own frightened reflection. I looked frazzled, but otherwise the same before the accident. There were no cuts covering my face, no blood.

"Come to me, dear. Let me in." The voice whispered in my head. Warmth spread through my body as my mind tried to reach it.

"Yes, that's it, love. Let me in." Her voice took on a hypnotic note. My vision swayed as I reached further towards the warm light. I saw swirling patterns of gold, cream and white mixed together, and the sweet smell of something familiar took over me.

"Yes, come to me." My eyes fluttered closed as I let the warmth engulf me. I felt wonderful as a new power spread throughout my body.

My eyes snapped open again when a sudden yank pulled me back into my own empty body. I held up my hands to see scratches, the huge gash on my arm gaped open. My legs were all bloody.

I'm alive, I thought to myself in happiness. I touched my face and pinched my arm, causing the most excruciating pain I've ever felt in my entire life. I screamed in happiness and pain, and winced at the sudden movement. Then the previous man that was monitoring the heart monitor came through the doors. His eyes widened as he saw me sitting up on the bed, staring back at him. He shifted backwards, ready to bolt out of the room.
