Dancing

I woke up and found myself unable to think straight and I had the strange urge to kill. Rachelle must've noticed my distress because she pushed Thomas onto the stone floor and looked into my eyes.

"You okay Lizzie?" She asked and I shook my head. Rachelle sighed and brought me into a hug. I tried to fight the urge to kill her and she suddenly started singing. I focused on the song and realised it was the lullaby our mum used to sing to us every night before she.... turned. "Let's go in the garden, You'll find something waiting, Right there where you left it, Lying upside down, When you finally find it, You'll see how it's faded, The underside is lighter, When you turn it around, Everything stays right where you left it, Everything stays but it still changes, Ever so slightly, Daily and nightly, In little ways everything stays," she sang softly and I rested my head on her shoulder lazily. "Are you okay Liz?" She asked and rubbed my back. I sighed and murmured a no. She slowly and carefully lay me down before tucking me in. I rolled my eyes at being treated like a little girl but then snuggled down into the warmth. I soon fell asleep and dreamt of stars and galaxies and everything cringey and cliche as can be.

I woke up to the sound of excited chatter. I looked up to see a radio which was in mint condition resting on a crate and everyone crowding around it. I stood up and walked over to it.

"Where did you find this?" I asked and Thomas shrugged.

"It was just outside," he said.

"Maybe someone is writing a story about us and they sent it to us," Rachelle said dreamily and everyone looked at her oddly.

"Well.... what are you losers waiting for, let's dance!" Minho said and twirled Rachelle around making her giggle like a schoolgirl.

"Slow dance though," one of the girls from our group piped up. Jorge grinned and pressed play as I rolled my eyes and moved over to Thomas, secretly ecstatic that I would get to hold him close. Jorge pressed play and suddenly rock music blared from the speakers.

"They said all, Teenagers scare, The living shit out of me, They could care less, As long as someone'll-" it sung until Jorge shut it off, sending Rachelle a sheepish smile and pressed another button. Soon a soothing melody came out of the radio and Thomas took my hand. "Oh all the money that e'er I spent, I spent it in good company," It sang sweetly as Thomas span me around. I laughed softly and then rested my head on his chest, listening to how his heart beat rhythmically with the music. "And all the harm that e'er I've done, Alas, it was to none but me, And all I've done for want of wit, To memory now I can't recall," Everyone lazily danced around the room and I could feel Thomas resting his chin on my head as we slowly danced. "So fill to me the parting glass, Good night and joy be with you all," I looked up at Thomas and he stared down at me with absolute admiration and adoring in his eyes. "Oh all the comrades that e'er I've had, Are sorry for my going away, And all the sweethearts that e'er I've had, Would wish me one more day to stay," I rapped my arms around his neck and nestled my face into his neck. I heard him shakily release a breath before he embraced me back and placed his chin on my back as we continued to slowly dance, it soon turning into us slowly swaying from side to side to the beat of the music. "But since it falls unto my lot, That I should rise and you should not," as we slowly swayed from side to side I could hear Thomas muttering simple prayers under his breath, but one came to my ears that made me stop swaying and made tears of joy come to my eyes.

"Please don't ever take this angel from me, for I love her too much," he had muttered and I smiled softly.

"I'll gently rise and I'll softly call, Good night and joy be with you all, Good night and joy be with you all," I sighed in content as the song ended and looked up to see Thomas smiling softly at me.

"Thank you," I whispered and pressed a gentle kiss to his lips. One that was barely a kiss and more of a stroke of lips upon lips, but it was amazing. It tasted of salt, tears and... chocolate.
