Chapter 2- The meet

Erick's pov

Nothings beats timezone on a lazy hot afternoon at the mall.

   I saw Scarlet, one of my closest friends, with someone else at the mall. "Hey Scarlet!" I greeted her. "Hello Eric! Nice to see you" she greeted happily. "And its nice to see you too!" I flashed a bright smile. "Scar, its almost June. Already got a school to enroll?" I asked her. "Im going to be in the same school, Erick" she said. "Good for you ha. I couldn't control my excitement. College's approaching really really fast" i said excitedly. "Well yeah. But you should atleast enjoy your high school life. College is a great frustration" Scarlet said. "AH! By the way, Erick! this is Brielle. And Brielle, this is Erick!" She continued. "Hey Brielle!" I greeted her. "Ah he-hello" So she's shy, huh? I expected to get a lively greetings from her

Silence...

Well, what else can I say? What else? I can't think of any. So I just stared at her. And she's staring at me, too! Damn. Those eyes. Those are familiar eyes.. I think I've seen them somewhere before, somehow.. But I can't remember.

"Hello? Earth is calling the both of you!" Scar said loudly. "I gotta go guys" because this is getting more and more awkward. "Where are you going?" asked Scarlet. "Timezone. And you ladies?". "Somewhere down..." Scarlet didnt finish her sentence cause Brielle interupted her. "Ah we are going to City View. Wanna join?" Brielle ask. Geez why is she looking directly at my eyes. Does she know its really awkward.. for me.

Wait.. City View?

"Uhm maybe next time ladies" I said and flashed a smile. "T-sk see? You're not over it yet!" Scarlet said. "I am!" I lost my temper and frowned at her. "Ha! Oh really? Then come with us then, Erick" said scarlet. I heaved a sigh.

You really know me well, Scarlet. The reason why I dont want to go to City View is because thats where my brother died. We were just playing and I accidentally bump into him and he fell down the hill. Thats when im still 8 years old.

"I will prove it to you Scarlet!" i challenged myself. "Ok then go with us" she said.

*CITY VIEW*

   I can not focus and almost bump into a boy. Damn boy! Because of him, i remembered something!

  We looked for a peaceful place where we could sit and chill. True enough, we found a place wherein you could hear the breeze alone. Even none of us wanted to start a conversation.

Silence

"Uhm guys, you hungry? i'll get some snacks. stay right here, ok?" Before we could even say yes, she started walking away from us. GREAT. Just you and me, Brielle.

Awkward.

Silence.

Silence.

Cant take it anymore

   I cleared my troath. "Hey!" I said. "Hello" she said. Im thinking of a good topic that would not end. "Look at that city. It looks calm and peaceful but when you at it closely then it would look the opposite. It's really nice here. Nevermind the pollution" "Yes, indeed. Uhm. Erick, you're not okay, are you? Seems like you are always thinking of something ha..". "It's just.. I.." I stuttered. I cant find the right words to describe what im feeling right now. "This place reminds me of my brother" I uttered. "Why?" she asked

   "Ah.." I tried to look cool but... "Erick, tell me the things that you only want. If you don't like the topic then let's make another. I really woudn't mind." she assured me

   "Ok. It was our parents anniversary so we decided to celebrate it here. And i have an older brother.. He died accidentally.." i thought this conversation would help me lessen the guilt so i will finish what i started. "I bumped into him and he fell off the hill. My father hated me so much because of that incident. Because of me.. his favorite son died." I paused and continue. "Papa likes kuya Jerick because kuya's old enough. After that, my father went to Cebu. He's there not only there for his work.. but to avoid me. I know he's been avoiding me since the incident happened because he rarely talks with me. He makes excuses to avoid talking to me. I should have been the only one who fell off that damn hill!" I felt crying but no

  "Im sorry to hear that and sorry for the lost of your brother." she said sincerely. "Nah. Thank you for listening, Brielle. I needed this" I genuinely smiled at her. I know we can never undo our mistakes. We just learn from them. "Dont worry, everythings gonna be alright." she paused and smiled at me. "I even felt the same way Erick. The day i lost my grandma, i became hopeless too. But please don't worry too much" she said. "Thank you for this conversation, Brielle. I felt comfortable around you"

   "See those three stars?" she pointed the sky. "That's Orion's belt" I said. "Thats Chocho, Finn and my lola" "Who is Chocho and Finn?" I ask. "My two handsome dogs. I dont know where they have been but I guess they are dead now."

"Dead? How?"

"Cause people nowadays eat dogs so i think.."

"Ah okay. Thats true"

"Disgusting"

"I know"

  "R.I.P. Chocho and Finn" I said looking at the sky. "Dont say that. We are still unsure" she laugh. "Sorry" I chuckled

   Scarlet came back with snacks. Eat. then after some minutes we left the place

  "Bye Scar! Bye Brielle!" I said to those two girls. "Bye" They said then waved their hands

I went home and rest. Today is the best day ever. I dont know but I just feel it.
