Many couples get tattoos to show their love for one another. Once you get one, it's there to stay. The couple tattoos usually match such as getting matching quotes or each person gets half a heart to equal one whole.

Harry has a ship while Louis has a compass pointing to home.
Louis has rope and Harry has an anchor.

Rose and Dagger

The rose and dagger tattoo can symbolize the duality of human life through the seemingly opposite meanings of the two images combined in this design: The rose stands for beauty, love, friendship, and vitality, whereas the dagger signifies death, betrayal, destruction, and insidiousness. When the rose is around the dagger, it shows they can exist together.

The butterfly and 'it is what it is' were found on the same original design sheet by tattoo artist Liam Sparkes who has done several of their tattoos (Pic from his Flickr account, uploaded in 2010 but it was subsequently taken down) The tattoos match up perfectly if Louis and Harry hugged.
