I loved to visit our grandmother because her house has lots of secret hideouts. Especially when we are playing hide and seek with my siblings. In the past, this house was once lived by the wealthiest family but they all were murdered by a serial killer but wasn't reported much on the news even the case was closed because they cannot find this killer ; except for one little girl who survived and saw this killer once... that girl is my grandmother.

From what I heard, she was adopted from a children's home in Castle Street to become their daughter because they don't have a child. Maybe I was small that time so I asked how she survived but she just smiled and replied " I prayed and miracles just happened. "

I never asked again or even think of it as time goes by. But there's something.. something that caught my sight, it was a room that was situated below the basement. The basement was one of the best hideout whenever I played hide and seek with my siblings. I never went inside this room before because it was painted with red 'KEEP OUT'

"Should we go inside and check it out?" I asked my brother John one night after we played hide and seek because we sleep in the same room.

"I'm not sure about it because it sounds creepy to me, " he replied.

Then, he asked me to get some rest because it's late already.

I covered myself with my blanket and tried not to think about it and sleep but I cannot. I must know what is hiding behind that door.

'Was it related to the case many years ago?'

I must find out.

I looked at my watch when the old grandfather clock started to sound again.

"It's 2.00a.m. already... I guess everyone is asleep."

I lighted up the old lantern where the candle was half burned. Then, I tried to sneak out quietly from my room and head down to the basement.

'I wondered how does thief sneak into the house... hahaha'

Making sure no one was looking at me as I was standing right in front of the mystery room. I hold my breath, turned the door knob slowly and tried to not make so much noise because I didn't want to wake them up. I took the first step in but I could feel an icy cool air piercing into my skin.

It's pitch-black dark inside here and I'm sure I cannot see my own hands if I didn't have this old lantern with me. I tried to find the switch to switch on the light but it seemed that the switch is broken. I just hoped that I won't step or hit on something because the lantern is getting dimmer and dimmer...

This room looked like it has been abandoned quite long time ago because there was paint peeling off the ceiling and walls. The furniture were old and smell bad. I guessed there was nothing interesting about the room but as I was about to get out from the room, there was one thing caught my eye. It's a huge portrait about a family but I recognize the little girl in this portrait. She is my grandmother.

All the things in this room were old but this portrait still newly polished. I looked carefully around this corner and I saw a figure lying there. I walked towards it and I was stunned. It's is not a living-thing but a dead corpse with a knife stabbed into the chest.

I started to shiver and wanted to scream but someone behind me caught me and covered my mouth. I struggled and bit the stranger's hand. I ran out the room as fast as I could while the stranger started to scream and trying to catch me again. I cried and shouted for help and the house was lighten up within a second.

Everyone came downstairs and tried to calm me down as I was trying to explain what I had seen. Suddenly, a voice came right behind me and it was my grandmother.

"I was hoping that no one will actually find the truth... I guess I should hand myself to the police now, " she said.

Half and hour later the police car came and handcuffed my grandmother and two policemen went down to the basement and they brought a bag filled with something when they went back to the car. I saw my mom cried and my dad still could not believe what had happened and same goes to my relatives.

After asking what really happened, my dad said that my grandmother was the one who killed the serial killer and hid him into the room. The room was once a storeroom so the policemen couldn't find the body until the body slowly rot and smell. The next morning I woke up as I was watching the news and it was about my grandmother that was trying to defend herself but as she was defending herself she accidentally stabbed the serial killer...
