01 - The Clock Is Still Ticking

Everything happened way too fast after Val told the man his real name. One second he looked so shocked and the next he was on the floor clutching his head and screamed.

The blond detective could only watch when his fellow officers brought Zachary out of the interrogation room, her eyes shining with pity at the man's terrible condition.

Zachary has been found after six years gone missing. Val knew him, but they weren't anything but acquaintances. But one thing Val is sure about Zachary is that he is a strong person, nothing like the guy she just talked to a couple of minutes ago.

She could only imagine what kind of hell Zachary went through in that 6 years time.

  "Val!"

The door to the interrogation room Val is in, bursts open as a tall man come running inside. The man looks like he just ran miles just to get here, sweating all over and his face is completely pale.

"Is it true?" the man trails, his voice trembling with exhaust and mixed emotions. "Did they finally found Zacky? Did you found him?"

"Calm down, Matt. Breathe"

"Just answer the damn question!" the man, Matt, shouted at her. He didn't mean to, actually, but he got mixed emotions right now and he can't simply calm himself down. All he needed to know is did they really found Zacky and where is he.

Val sighed deeply, slender fingers moving up to rub her suddenly aching temple. She gave him a hard look.

  "Promise me you won't start running out of here before I am done with whatever I need you to know," the female detective gives Matt a warning look. Matt doesn't answer but his breath slows down.

Val nods to him, "We did found the same 'Zacky' you were looking for for 6 years, he ran from somewhere deep in the woods and passed out just as soon as his feet touched the main road. He was lucky because an officer just was patrolling and was in the area," she explained to him.

Matt's eyes widen and his heart skips a beat at Val's explanation. He wants to just get out of here and look for the room where they put Zacky in, but he promised to not to do that. Also, Matt feels like whatever Val would tell him next is something he's not going to like but he needs to know about. So he stays quiet.

  "We did found, Zacky, Matt," Val repeats. "But the man we found wasn't exactly the Zacky you knew. The man we found was a shell of someone you knew"

Val wasn't kidding when she said that the man they found was indeed Zacky, but at the same time it wasn't him. After their talk, Val brought Matt to one of the rooms inside the building.

As soon as Matt landed his eyes on Zacky's figure, he ran to the younger man and gather him in a tight hug.

Which, wasn't exactly the best idea of his, since Zacky was still shaken from whatever he was running from and of his own name. Zacky pushed Matt with all of his might and starts shouting.

  "STAY AWAY FROM ME!"

"Zacky, Zack my man, it's me, Matt!"

Matt tried his best to calm Zaky down, but the younger man kept ignoring him and scream as loud as he could while curled into a ball on the corner of the room.

"He doesn't remember me?" Matt asks Val when they are finally out of the room Zacky is in. They are watching a doctor and some officers trying to calm Zacky down. Matt's fists clenched.

  "Matt," Val put a hand on Matt's arm and give it a light squeeze. "Not only you. He couldn't even remember his name"

"Whoever did this to him deserves hell," Matt muttered darkly.

  "Did you know what was his answer when I asked him his name?"

Matt quickly put his whole attention to Val. He gives the female detective a hard look, answering the question asked just with no words out.

"He said Brian's name"

Matt's blood ran cold at the mention of Brian's name.
