This chapter is dedicated to MelknKookies, I never would've gained the courage to post this, if not for you.
We Young grasshoppers love you. Without further ado......***
People say you only feel good when you look good. But people were wrong. Jan could name a lot of people that looked good and felt like shit.
And if her name didn't top that list she didn't know what else.
She wasn't trying to call her self pretty or anything of the sorts, though she had heard a million compliments in that aspect.
"Jan!"
Jan turned, towards the source of the voice, hoping it wasn't who she knew it was. She let out a loud groan, of course she had hoped wrong. It belonged her best friend, Dianne Peters.
"What is it Di?" Jan asked Dianne, in an exasperated voice, but Dianne only glared, a glare Jan was so used to she barely noticed, then scoffed and walked past Jan. Jan knew she would be blacklisted soon enough so she walked up to meet her.
"It's a new term, and Jan you promised." Dianne said, pouting, after finally acknowledging Jan's presence.
Since that was her reason, Jan regretted coming to her. "Did I go back on my word? I haven't even stepped inside of school yet." Jan pointed out.
Dianne seemed to consider it, then laughed while patting Jan's head. "True." She hooked her hands in Jan's and smiled. "Let's go. And please, in the name of Raziel, do something about that smile."
The moment Jan and Dianne walked through the doors of school, conversations stopped. The voices became hushed, whispers of contempt. Jan took on the new role, easily switching, the façade coming easily, as if she were shrugging on a coat.
"Honestly Di, I'm serious. Phil was fucking Serena. And I've got photos to prove it."
Dianne didn't need to pretend. This was her domain and her attention was already sparked. She gestured wildly to Jan's phone. "Let me see." Jan handed the phone to her and Dianne's expression morphed into one of uttermost happiness as she scrolled through.
"Ah. Perfect."
"Where's Nick?" Jan asked. Dianne recognised that glint in Jan's eyes. It meant something sinister and evil, something Jan like.
"What is it? What do you have in mind?" Dianne asked eagerly.
"Oh, nothing much." On seeing Dianne's hopeful smile she decided to elaborate a little. "I may be doing this because of 'What's hot?'"
Dianne stared at her, her smile dropped slowly until she had a neutral look on her face, silently wondering if she was joking. "Are you for real? That's just bitchy. Naturally, you're a bitch but this is you with extra bitchiness added."
"This is why I didn't want to say anything. Jan whined. "But she told me hello after she waved the 'what's hot' magazine in my face. And I was already in a bad mood."
Dianne just shook her head, about to reply until she was caught off.
"Ah, if it isn't the School's worst female students. Dianne Peters and the infamous Jan Pierre."
"Nick!" Jan screamed and ran over to him, after locating him among the throng of students walking along the hall. Jan threw her arms around him, hugging him tightly. Leaving Dianne to curse and trudge after her. Jan reached Nick first and saw the red head hanging onto his arm.
"Get lost." Jan spoke to her, her voice so low that even Nick wouldn't hear. The girl didn't need to be told twice. She scampered off. She didn't want Di too angry. Dianne was Nick's friend only because she was Jan's. Sometimes, friend even seemed like an overstatement. Their cat fights were intriguing, but they could give one of the worst headaches in history.
