The wind blew violently. Shining's hooves sank into the snow with every step. His armor rattled against the wind as he stopped at a ledge. Dark clouds formed in the distance in a hurricane like movment. Flashes of lighting and roaring thunder could be heard as the storm grew larger. "Sir, we are prepared when you are." A crystal guard spoke to the captain with a stern voice. Shining looked behind him and nodded at the guard. He then turned to speak to his army. "Sombra's forces aren't far from here. We have one mission and that is to protect the Empire. You are here to fight till you drop dead, is that understood?" "Yes sir!" The guards shouted as they all soluted to Singing Armor. "Good." Shining looked back, the cloud was closer and the wind was blowing snow into his face at high speeds. "It's time to take our home back. For Equestria."

"Mommy Mommy!" Flurry Heart quickly ran down the long, empty hall of the castle. Half of the Empire had already been evacuated since the news of Sombra's return was leaked to the public. The little filly stopped at the balcony where Cadence and two guards stood. Cadence's horn flickerd as she struggled to keep the shadows away from the Empire using only her own magic. "Princess Flurry Heart? What are you doing here? Where is Sunburst?" A guard asked Flurry. "Flurry! I told you to go with Sunburst and Starlight!" Cadence shouted at her daughter. "I-Im sorry Mommy.. I cant leave without you and daddy-" "Flurry please! Just go sweetie I promise well meet again soon." Cadence said in a calm voice as she hugged her teary eyed duaghter. "Auntie Twighlight will take care of you till I get back, okay?" Cadence smiled at her daughter. "O-okay.." Flurry sniffled. They shared one last hug before a guard lead her to the train stasion where she was escorted out of the Crystal Empire with Sunburst and Starlight to Cantorlot.

Blood ran down Shining Armor's legs as he struggled to stand up. All of the other guards had been killed by the lingering shadows that were just waiting for him to drop dead. But he refused. "Come out you c-coward!" Shining shouted. "Stop hiding in the Shadows! Face me like a real-!" Shining choked on his works as a black crystal shot up and stabbed him through the throat. He gasped for air but with no luck. The crystal disintegrated into dust and Shining fell to the snow covered ground. His neck, eyes, and mouth pouring out blood. There was nothing left for the Empire.
Not even hope.
