Acts of Love

Act II- Robbie

Teanna has been talking me to death. Not that I don't like when she talks. Her plush lips make it funny when she pushes them. "And I wonder like, why he do dat doe?" Her hands fly out, "Like who dafuq he think he is?" Her face scrunches up and she finds the next thing to talk about. "You know how you find someone outside and they tryna act and you just like 'Uh, no honey.'" Again, her explanations make me laugh. Jimye's face has twisted entirely in confusion. "What are you talking about?"

Teanna starts realizing what she's saying and she tries to reword it. "Mama, there is a person you don't know and they tryna front and" She sees Jimye's face contort increasingly as she explains, then switches to me. "You know what I'm talking about right?"

I reply very slowly. "Yes, Teanna." My smile grows wider as I explain. "If I didn't know, I would tell you."

She clicks her cheeks and moves on to the boy next me, which, this time, happens to be Adolfo. "Robledo, you know what I'm talking about right?

He wasn't listening.

He takes out one earphone. "Hah?" He says in confusion.

"Nevermind."

I laugh again.

Then Ms. Scott enters the without invitation. "Why are you talking back there?" She says moderately loudly. "Y'all won't be able to learn while you are... conversing with friends." She makes the sentence more aggravating by the same gestures she uses over and over. I look around and, of course, every other human being is talking. Okay, Ms. Scott! I've stopped trying to explain things in this school.

She continues talking and, just like earlier, I don't listen. She probably has some difficult project to go with our other eight projects. I take this time to stare out into the hallway watching people pass by. Teachers, people skipping class, and people with a focus on where they're going. A person, in particular, rushes across the door way of the class. Who was that?? He needs to slow down. I'd probably be running out of the school too. The boy pops his head in. ROBBIE!! My mans comes into the classroom nonchalantly and asks the teacher for papers from some random person's class. He doesn't even go here, Ms. Scott!

It takes no time for me to bounce out of my seat and leap into his arms. I waste no time in snatching a kiss from his lips and pulling him closer. It's been three months... "I miss you..."

I can feel his heartbeat getting faster as I say it. "You already know what I'm about to say."

I can feel the tension in the room 'Who's that?', 'What's going on?', 'Are they together?'

Robbie pushes two fingers into my side, causing me to flinch and let go of him. I taught you that! I look at him with a betrayed look on my face. "I gotta go but I just wanted to see you real quick." He says quickly as he slaps a kiss onto mouth. As he's rushing back out of the classroom, ending the visit, too quickly for my liking. He glances over at Ms. Scott, who's in disbelief and waves at the class before heading out the door.

While he's in the hall way, he shoots me handguns before running off. I was staring at him like it was the first time I was seeing him. The hard contact of my seat with my butt made me realize two things: I had sat down and I 'm tearing up. Teanna talks first "Who was that?" not even letting me look up to receive her question. I wipe my eyes, relieving them of the excess water and T brings another question to the table. "What's wrong?"

I answer the question on the table first. "I missed him so much. I needed that..." I wipe the last spot of water off my face and answer the previous question. "And that was my dude." I say loud enough for everyone to hear. "For anyone who's too nosey to keep their eyes to themselves!!"
