The dimly lit room was quiet. You had finished the report that was due tomorrow but the printer in the photocopier room wasn't printing properly.
"Damn it. Paper jam again?" you mumbled with frustration.
You were fumbling with the paper tray when you heard someone entered the room.
"Noona?" a voice called out from behind you. It was your intern, Jeon Jungkook.
"What are you doing?" he asked as he stepped into the room.
"Was finishing up the report but the printer won't print," you complained as you turned back round to fix the jam again.
"Let me help," he offered as he stepped right next to you.
Somehow you felt nervous with him standing so close to you. He was an attractive young lad. Well built body, slightly muscular but not overly buffed.
"It's okay... I got it," you stammered as you reached over to the lower paper tray which the screen on the printer instructed. All the nervousness had you tripping over his feet, causing you to fall face first; you shut your eyes, ready for the impact. However, somehow Jungkook with his fast reflex swiftly caught you and pulled you to his chest.
When you opened your eyes, you realized that you were resting on his chest, and he had both his arms on your back making sure that you were steady before he let go.
Like a reflex, you took a step back and released yourself from his embrace. Both of you straighten your clothes and looked away awkwardly, not sure what to say.
The only sounds in the room were your own breathing, his breathing and the ticking of the clock hung on the wall above your head.
You looked into his big brown eyes; that once glistened with innocence, now burning with desire.
He inched closer to you, so close that you could smell him. That clean soap scent aroused your senses.
"Noona.." his raspy voice whispered at your ear. His warm breath tingling down the side of your neck. You stiffened as he touches your arm.
Your heart started racing and you realized you could no longer hear the ticking of the clock; your ears were filled with the beating of your racing heart.
"You know I have always wanted you to be mine, right?" Jungkook whispered in your ear as he run his fingers lightly down your forearm. He played with your fingers softly before he raised your hand to his lips. Jungkook looked straight into your eyes, gave a little smirk and pressed his soft lips onto your hand.
You were confused as to what was happening. He was your junior in college, a small petite boy with bambi eyes, painfully shy and quiet. You were appointed to be his buddy through the orientation programme and ever since then he followed you around like a puppy. Things were going well between you and him until your last year in college when he suddenly started to drift and avoid you. You attempted to confront him a few times, demanding to know the reason but that boy was a master at diverting questions and avoiding confrontation.
You haven't seen him since your graduated, until a month ago, a tall, lean and muscular young man came in as an intern under your supervision. He was surprisingly comfortable with you given the fact that all your past interns were usually quiet around their supervisor on their first day.
But he was chatty and playful. Jeon Jungkook, the name rang a bell in your head when he introduced. You recalled that smirk he gave the moment you remembered who he was.
He had changed so much, grew so much. You could no longer find the tiny timid boy in his eyes anymore.
"That boy was long gone," Jungkook said quietly, almost as if he could read your mind.
"I will fight for what I want now," Jungkook said, staring into your eyes with intense.
You felt vulnerable suddenly. What has this boy done to me?, you thought. You had thought your heart belonged to someone else but Jungkook's presence confused you.
There was a light tapping sound down the hallway. It was footsteps. The sound of what seemed like dress shoes against the marble floor became louder as the footsteps drew nearer to the room. And then it stopped.
Jungkook did not seem to notice it. His intense eyes were still on yours, as if searching for an answer.
"I know how you feel about me, Noona...," Jungkook said softly, his eyes never left yours.
"Stop it, JK," a voice broke the silence in the room. It broke Jungkook's intense look too, but he did not turn to find out who that voice belong to.
Still facing you, Jungkook licked the inside of his cheek, something he always do when he is being challenged.
You shifted your gaze from Jungkook to the silhouette standing at the doorway. The room was too badly lit for you to identify who that was, but you knew the voice was familiar. You tried to make out the features of the silhouette; it was a tall lean man with wide shoulders...
"Seokjin?" you asked softly as the silhouette stepped into the light and revealed himself.
"Hyung, we agreed that this would be a fair game. Y/N has the rights to decide." Jungkook said calmly as he turned to face his hyung.
Seokjin dressed in his white button-down shirt and black dress pants had both his hands in his pockets. He was calm and composed with just a little frown on his beautiful face, but he did not look pleased.
"I know. I just don't think anyone should be here so late in the night," Seokjin answered calmly, his gaze fixed on you.
The tension in the room grew. You knew you had to do something.
"Seokjin is right. It's late now, we should go home," you suggested, trying to ease the tension.
"I'll send you home," Seokjin said as he took your hand before you could say anything.
At this moment, you felt someone tugging onto your other arm.
"It's okay, hyung. I can send Y/N back," Jungkook said.
Still holding onto your hand, Seokjin turned around to face Jungkook. His eyes filled with annoyance.
"Hyung, with all due respect, I am not gonna let Y/N go so easily like the last time. I will fight for her," Jungkook added.
"The last time?" you asked, puzzled as to what they were talking about.
Both of them shifted their gazes to you. You took a glance at Jungkook. His expression was hard to read, but you knew he had something to say. Perhaps something about the last time, or perhaps not.
"I will go with Seokjin for now. I need to talk to him," you said softly to Jungkook as you freed your arm from his hold.
You glanced at your watch as you began walking out of that eerily quiet room, leaving the two men by themselves.
"10:46pm"
You let out a sigh and thought about how the situation boiled down to this. Your relationship with Seokjin was already complex, and now with Jungkook in the picture, you became more confused than ever.
