“It starts in the theatre, a night of encounters. If I hadn’t been there if not for a cigarette.”
“We’re ready to see Zayn Malik,” said a secretary from Modest Management. She ushered Zayn into an office where Will Devlin, the boys’ manager, was sitting and
left.
“You wanted to see me?” asked Zayn.
“Yes, take a seat,” Will said, gesturing to a chair across from him. “You’re heart because of the issue concerning Denise Featherstone.
Zayn nodded, “Go on…”
“You want your album to be number one on iTunes right?”
Zayn nodded again.
“Good. We’re on the same page then,” Will said, satisfied. “Well, if you pursue a relationship with Ms. Featherstone that could very well happen. Her fans are around the same age as yours, and you produce the same kind of music.”
Zayn leaned back into his chair. “Yeah, but didn’t we already discuss this?”
“Yes,” Will agreed. “But I just want to make it clear to you.”
“And what about Denise?” asked Zayn. “You’re not her manager. She can refuse to go through with this.”
“We already talked to her management and they’re going along with the plan. She has a tour coming out and they want her to sell out,” Will explained.
Zayn sighed, “Fine. When should we confirm our ‘relationship’ to the press?”
“Preferably today, but it has to be done by the end of this week,” Will answered.
“Ugh, this is some bullshit,” Denise groaned. She was sitting on her bed along with her two long time best friends, Aurelia and Fawne.
Aurelia and Fawne have been friends with Denise since junior high. They got seated next to each other in English and they bonded over the crush that they had on the cute guy that sat across the room from them. Aurelia is outspoken and headstrong, while Fawne is the exact opposite. Quite and motherly. Denise was kind of in between the two. She could be loud and obnoxious, or shy and reserved. They keep each other grounded though, and that’s what makes their friendship work.
They were all just lazing about, flipping through magazines and munching on snacks. Denise came across an article about her and Zayn, and she was beyond irritated.
Aurelia and Fawne peered over Denise’s shoulder and ‘oh’d when they saw the picture of Zayn and Denise hugging on her porch.
“It’s not that bad,” assured Fawne.
“Yeah, I mean who gives a shit about what other people think?” added Aurelia. “And besides, it’s Zayn Malik that everyone’s assuming you’re dating. He is beyond gorgeous.”
Denise sighed, “I know. I hate this so much.”
“Why?” asked Aurelia. “You have a chance with him and everything. You guys banged the last time I was here and he was sober. He was totally bullshitting when he told you he was buzzed. I didn’t see him pick up more than one drink babe.”
“How would you know?” Denise asked pointedly. Her face was a light shade of pink because of the subject. “You took in way more alcohol than me.”
Aurelia gasped, “Hey! I hold my liquor well.”
Fawne rolled her eyes. “Enough you two,” She turned to Denise. “And as for you. I swear, if Zayn got down on knee and asked you to marry him you would ask if it meant anything.”
