Away

"It's not you, it's me," they say,
As they push me farther away.

"It's not you, it's me," I say,
As I push them farther away.

Farther apart we drift, down two separate paths that we have made,
I can't imagine leaving you, with my calm facade.
But alas, life has its ways,
of separating friends, in a long and ruthless maze.

I don't want you to leave, you're all that i have had,
And for that, i am glad.
Then we turn away,
as tears fill our eyes.
Wanting to stay,
And never break our ties.
