Celine woke up to the yellow light trickling through the shutters of he window. The light licked the walls and illuminated my crudely furnished room, and it kissed her cheeks goodmorning. She propped herself up on her elbows, and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. Sitting up properly, she opened the shutters to reveal the view outside. The sky was mostly covered in a thick grey cloud, with only a thin strip of blue visible, the sun shining. Celine yawned and kicked back the covers, and got up to get ready to get to school.
--------
She began to get ready, and only had 30 minutes before she had to leave for the 8:00 train, the latest train that brought her to school. She splashed some cold water on her face, and attempted brushing her hair, except her wavy curls just got stuck in the brush. Giving up, and trying not to frizz her hair, Celine just ran her fingers through her hair a few times and put a small amount of hairspray in. Applying minimal makeup and getting dressed, she finished and walked downstairs to have some breakfast.
"Good morning mama!" she greeted, as she reached for a bowl, and setting it down on the counter. "Morning Celine," replied her tired mother, her eyes sagging and her face slightly grey. "I am working a double shift at the hospital tonight, so don't wait up for me, okay?" she continued, smiling softly. "That's fine, I had heaps of homework anyway. Don't overwork yourself too much, okay?" replied Celine, while she was stuffing some Froot Loops into her mouth, a small amount of milk dribbling down her chin. "You're too good to me Cel," said her mother, smiling a bit more this time, although the sad look behind her eyes still present. "Well cya mama, gotta catch the train," Celine replied, kissing her mother on the cheek and walking out the door.
As she walked outside, Celine felt a small droplet fall on the top of her cheek, then another on her arm. "Oh great," she thought aloud, and almost as if on cue, the rain started. Are you fucking serious she thought, I literally just walked outside. Celine began jogging, and got to the train station, half-wet, and smelling slightly like wet dog. She made her way down to her respective platform and checked the timetable. The electronic screen had Train arrives in 6 minutes written on it, and she went and stood at the very edge of the train platform, and turned to face the direction in which the train would be arriving from. Now, to the average onlooker, this may have looked as if she were a suicidal teen girl, about to jump on the tracks. But, in reality, Celine really liked the thrill she got of being so close to the on-coming train, and closing her eyes and only hear the loud rumbling of the large mechanical presence. She waited and on cue, the train arrived, and she felt so alive for the few seconds the before the train pulled in, and she loved it.
The train stopped and the doors opened, and Celine walked in, and sat down at her usual spot. She pulled out her book and found her page, and began to read, but she noticed a boy about her age staring directly at her, and she felt slightly uncomfortable. Once the boy had made direct eye contact with her, he smiled at her and moved to ssit next to her. "Whatcha reading?" asked the boy, motioning to her book. "Oh- uh, Miami Blues by Charles Willeford." she replied, smiling meekly. "Are you serious? I love that book! Slightly over-the-top violence and a strange broken-finger death, but definitely a good read." he replied, smiling widely. He has read this book, wow, this is nice Celine thought, making note that the boy had a lovely smile, and very pretty eyes, eyes that were like a calm sea after a storm, in a deep emerald colour. "My name's Jasper." introduced the boy, "My name is Celine," replied Celine, with a smile to match Jasper's. "Lovely to meet ya, Celine. A pretty name to match a pretty face."
