I remember the day everything started, and I wish I didn't. My roommates and I were sitting in our living room relaxing, contemplating on whether to keep the news station on or not. I'm glad we decided to keep it on, or else I wouldn't be here today. The alarm sounded on the news, telling us all to stay inside. All we were told was that a very infective decease was being passed around. Things soon escalated to a destructive level very soon.

Eaters, as we called them. They were basically your classic zombie, but much more horrifying to witness in real life. They didn't really last long though, I guess our army had been preparing for them. The zombies never seemed to be the real problem though, it's what came after that horrified me.

The world split, as in two huge countries fighting against each other. That's when the cameras came in, and the landmines. No one was prepared this time. It would seem that after a zombie apocalypse things would magically come back together, but that's not the case. Having two sides who completely disagreed on how we should live, tore the rest of our humanity to pieces. That left two insane sides fighting for the way they believed we should now live, neither were right.

Who was she? I am now scared out of mind just thinking about what happened. The words she said keep repeating through my mind non-stop, "I can't do this anymore." It seems that she could have just been talking about this mental world we live in now, that's understandable. I can't help feeling though, what if it wasn't.

I pick up my duffle bag and continue to search for cameras. I also make sure that when I walk I won't be blown into pieces, by throwing a stick in front of me while I walk. In a world like this, you never know what could be waiting for you around the corner.

As I near the end of the forest path I search around to see what ahead of me, that's when I find him. He's around my age, and messing around with his gun. I suppose he's trying to fix it, or at least that's all I can see while I'm standing quite a few yards away from him. As I approach him I slowly bring up my gun, making sure to protect myself. You can never trust anyone.

"Drop the gun!" I yell when I'm closing in the yards between us.

"Ok!" He breathes out and drops the gun near my feet. His eyes stare up at me in confusion as he raises his hands forward the sky.

"Who are you?" He asks, still looking at me like I'm a question mark. His gaze wanders my face for awhile until his expression completely changes.

"Is it you Crystalline?" He expresses, looking very shocked. My mind runs wild, who is he? Then I remember.

"Joshua?" I drop my gun to the floor as I run to give him a hug.

"Yeah!" He laughs as his arms close in around me.

Then, the moment I took one step forward an explosion went off, causing us to fling backwards. My vision burst with stars, and I was temporarily blinded. My back ached from the impact, all I can remember was Joshua screaming out my name through the ringing noise in our ears, and then everything went black.
