"Mom, what do you mean you have a 'surprise' for me?" I ask my mother as she drives down a gravel road to my "surprise". It's almost nighttime, making the woods that surround us even creepier than in the daytime. She smirks and sticks a cigarette between her red painted lips. She inhales.

"You'll see, soon enough." I sigh and lean against the foggy window. We continue to drive for another thirty minutes and come to a stop at a large Steel gate. I look around confused.

"Mom?--" I begin but she cuts me off by shushing me.

"Be quiet, Atlas." I sigh for the thousandth time today and lean back in my seat. Mother sighs and reaches over and takes my hand in her warm ones. "I know I have been rough on you today, but it'll be worth it when you see your surprise." I roll my eyes. This isn't going to be my surprise, it will be hers.

"It better be worth this long ass ride," I say with clear annoyance in my voice. She retracts her hand and reaches for another cigarette. Suddenly the gates opened with a screech. She tosses her cigarette out of the window and pulls through that gates, to reveal my surprise.
