Myrcella

Seven days.

Seven days to stop an invasion and save as many people as possible. Seven days to come up with a way to beat an army four times the size of her own. Seven days to be a better ruler than Joeffrey. That shouldn't be too difficult right?
Myrcella, pressed her palms to her head and prayed to all the gods that had ever existed. A heavy sigh escaped her pink lips and she laid her head on the huge oak desk that had been her grandfather's.
He would know what to do, somehow he could turn this into a victory for House Lannister.
But he was dead and her great uncle Kevin had died in the explosion, Lancel was dead to, and all the rest of the small council. If Myrcella wanted to defend King's Landing she would have to do it by herself.
A knock came from behind the door, Myrcella sighed again, "What is it now?", she muttered to herself. "Come in"
The door creaked behind her and she heard the confident footsteps of her father before he even spoke.
"Yes, father?", Myrcella rose and turned, her long red dress shifting loudly as she moved, it's gold ornaments rattling like chains against her body.
"I've come to ask you to surrender.", Jaime looked at her with beggar's eyes, pleading with her. Myrcella stared back at him in shock, how low her father had fallen from the proud man he once was.
" You would have me give the city up to Northern barbarians and Dothraki hordes? You would have me let rapists and murderers into the streets? How can I-
" No," Jamie interrupted her,  his face unguarded and vehement."I would have you escape the doom your mother and I now face. The gods have sealed our fate, but it is not too late for you. Return to Casterly Rock, live your life in peace."
Myrcella paced the floor, her long yellow hair flying as she shook her head,"You yourself told me of the Mad King, how he had planned to burn the city to the ground, and now his daughter comes demanding his throne? With dragons no less!" Myrcella was shocked. " She will kill you and mother and no doubt myself as well. She will come and finish her father's reign of terror on this kingdom!" Myrcella stared at her father in horror.
" Myrcella", Jamie crossed the room in three strides and took her by  her arm."I don't care  about this kingdom, I care that you live a long happy lif-"
"Lannisters not caring for anyone but themselves is what got us into this mess in the first place!" Myrcella wrested herself from Jaime's grip angrily, " I will not abandon my people! And that is final", Myrcella turned her back on him and leaned on the desk for support, "If you are not going to help me defend this city...," Myrcella released the breath she hadn't realized she was holding,"Than you can leave."
" Myrcella..." ,Jaime paused and Myrcella waited for him to tell her he was sorry, that of course he would help her, but he only turned and left the room quietly, closing the door behind him
Myrcella held a hand to her stomach and hunched over the table...
He left, she was alone, truly alone.
She shook those thoughts out of her head, and sat at the grand desk, pulling out a map of King's Landing and it's defenses. She had six thousand, it was reported that Daenerys had twelve thousand, with her Dothraki, Unsullied, and other minor houses. The North end numbered eight thousand, together her enemies counted four times more than herself. She only had five thousand soldiers to protect a city of twenty thousand.
Myrcella rose and walked to the window, King's Landing was quite in the still night air, there was no revalry and drunkenness like when Joeffrey was crowned, or fireworks or any parties at all. The people were tired, all they wanted now was peace, and a ruler to protect them. She huffed and strolled across the room to the door. Hugging herself she walked through the corridors of the Red Keep, her high heels tapping obnoxiously on the heavy stone.
Save the city, save the city, she thought.
Somehow...
