september 15th 1993

school had ended for the day, and me and the guys were laying in the grass on the football field, looking up at the clear and blue sky above us.

"i should get home" i mumbled, my voice gravelly from the screaming i had done last night when my dad tried to break down my door.

"it's only 3" rian said, looking over at me with worried eyes.

"yeah, why do you have to get home so early?" alex asked, sitting up quickly, with bits of grass in his hair.

"well today's thursday. the big dance is tomorrow!" i said with fake enthusiasm as i grabbed my skateboard.

"jasey, is it your dad?" alex asked quietly, standing up and towering over me.

i laughed and rolled my eyes, standing on toes and pulling the grass out of alex's brown hair.

"are you going to the dance tomorrow?" alex asked rather quickly and somewhat nervously.

"i guess. if he lets me" i shrugged.

i stood on my pink skateboard and waved back at them, smiling.

"bye guys!" i said, then skated away.

alex's pov

"cmon dude! just ask her!" jack whined, pulling on the end of my aerosmith t shirt that was a tad bit too small for me.

"i'm gonna i'm gonna!" i said, crossing my arms and leaning against her locker.

just then i saw her. she was wearing a pink skirt and a light blue tank top with a jean jacket over it. her hair was up in a high ponytail and she had her pink converse on. she looked pretty, that's for damn sure.

she skipped over to us excitedly.
"my brother practically jumped through hoops to get it, but i got a dress for tonight!" she said excitedly.

i saw zack jack and rian all smirk.

"jasey rae" jack said, smirking at me.

she rolled her eyes and laughed.
"jack barakat"

"alex wants to ask you something" zack said quietly, laughing to himself.

"what is it?" she asked, looking up at me, she had no idea. completely and utterly clueless.

"w-would y-y-you want t-to go to t-t-t-the dance w-with m-m-me?" i stuttered nervously.

i'm not even exaggerating, i stuttered THAT much when i asked her out.

"yeah, that'd be fun!" she said, cheerily.

"so all of us are going together?" she asked.

still clueless, jasey?

"j-just me. me and y-you. a-almost l-like a d-d-date?" i asked nervously

her cheeks burned red and she smiled even wider than before.

"id really like that alex"

it's a date.
