CHAPTER 1
"Hailey!"
"Yes mom!" I yell back, currently I was in my room. Well my room for only the next few minutes, I thought while attempting to pack my clothes without crying.
"Honey are you almost finished?" said my mom as she entered my room. My mom was gorgeous with her short brown hair that was cut as a bob and bright blue eyes. She stood at 5'5 with a slim figure and looked at me with a worried expression. She knew I didn't want to move but under the circumstances it wasn't something that we could discuss.
"Yeah mom" I said as I folded the last piece of clothing in the box and taped it.
"Ok honey. I'll call your brother so he'll help you bring the boxes down okay." She smiled at me before hesitating to leave. Moving away from this house was a hard thing not only for me but for my mom and brother as well. We had lived in this house our entire lives.
I looked out at the yard and saw the sold sign. It seemed as if just yesterday I learnt how to ride my bike without training wheels on that yard. I remember that day.
It was a bright sunny day in the middle of July when I was 8. My brother (Chris) was out riding his bike and I really wanted to go with him but I wasn't allowed unless I rode without my training wheels. My mom was sitting out on the porch with lemonade while my father attempted to teach me how to balance myself. We stayed outside all day and I couldn't grasp the concept but that didn't stop me.
That night my brother woke me up after my parents went to sleep and we snuck out and he taught me how to ride a bike on the grass in the backyard. it wasn't exactly the best way to learn but it helped. My parents found us outside sleeping on the grass around our bikes at 8 in the morning. It was quite funny to see my mom yelling at us and my dad congratulating us for working together to help each other. But that was before he-
"Hails you ready?" asked my older brother. He was twenty and attending a university two hours away. But he came home on the weekends, holidays and even summer. Now he had come home to help us move into our new house.
"Yeah Chrissy" he gave me an annoyed look and with a huff he leaned down to pick up the remaining boxes and put them into the moving truck that was waiting downstairs. He hated it when I called him that but it a was a habit and it was funny when he was annoyed. My brother was tall. He inherited that from my father, he stood at 6'2 and never gave away a chance to make fun if my short figure. I was 5'4 making it very easy for him to tower over me and annoy me.
We packed the last bags into the truck and I climbed into my brothers car with my mom. My mom locked the door and after a final goodbye we drove away, leaving our childhood behind.
