Name: Claire

Genre: Emotional LGBTQ (fan fiction)

Position: Second Place

Book's name: Pride {l.s.}

How I got the idea: I had a dream about a pride parade. Now I have never been to one, but something about this celebration of love always made me very happy. In this dream, there were two boys. Now there weren't Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson; the fan fiction part came later. This dream did have two boys kissing in front of a protest at a pride parade, and I always imagined them falling in love after the fact.

My experiences writing this book: Like one of my characters in this book, I struggle with my mental health. Writing seventy chapters already has been the greatest accomplishment of my life so far. I do not have the energy or ability to focus enough to write a lot of the time, but this book has helped me learn how to cope with my mental illness.

How was my reader's response throughout: Oh my gosh, they are the most supportive people I have ever met. They have come to me in messages and comments complimenting my work. They made me feel accepted into the Wattpad community with my first real book. They came to me for help and offered their help in return because at the end of the day, my readers had a lot of similar problems to me and my book characters.

Upcoming books: I am currently publishing Love Is Real, which is a short story I wrote for my boyfriend as a gift for Christmas. It is based off of Clark Gable by The Postal Service, and is a cute story of three friends traveling the countryside and making a movie together. I am also planning on publishing Kill Me Softly. This will be an action book about an assassin who must face her past and her values as she finishes what might possibly be her last job.

Were Eminence Awards of any help?: The awards were helpful in knowing that my book was actually decent I suppose. I have never written like this before and being critiqued by a person really showed me what to work on and where I'm at.

Message to the readers: I wish all of you could come out of the closet and have pride in who you are and who you love. I get if you can't. I truly do. I just wish. I always want to say to get help if you experience sadness for a long period of time, helplessness, ideas of self harm or suicidal thoughts. Get help. It was the best thing I have ever done, and it's the best thing that my book characters have ever done. Take care of yourself. You guys are my favorite people. Your comments make my day. Talking to you guys makes me smile. Keeping taking care of yourselves; I need you guys. I would've stopped writing if it wasn't for you guys.

All the hugs and kisses. xoxo raindropkiss1.
