Chapter one

Raven Owens

Waking up and realizing that it's the last day of 8th grade, is like the best feeling ever. Just one more day and Raven Owens will be freed from middle school.

Her thoughts are soon interrupted by a knock on her bedroom door.

"Come in."

The door opens and Raven's brother is standing in the doorway with a plate of food.

"Here's a special 'last day of 8th grade' breakfast for my little sister, who is so loving and kind and does everything I ask her."

He walks into her room and puts the plate on her nightstand. "Oh and before you ask, most of that was sarcasm." He says, flashing her a smile.

"And let me guess, the food isn't edible?" She asks him.

He looks shocked. "Raven, I can't believe you think so low of me!" He soon drops the sad act and looks at her.

"Eat your breakfast and get dressed. You're going to be late if you don't and I'm not bringing you, so you'll have to walk."

Luckily the day went by fast. The last class just ended and she's standing at her locker.

Her small moment of peace was interrupted by someone screaming in her ear.

"BOO!"

She turns around and sees her best friend, Mila, standing there.

"Mila sorry to dissapoint you but you don't scare me anymore." Raven tells her.

"Well, in that case, I suggest that you come home with me. There's some ice cream that needs to be eaten."

She looks at her. "You know that I'm lactose intolerant?"

Mila smiles at her. "I know, it's lactose free."

She her locker and walks towards the exit, Mila following close behind.

The two girls finally arrive at Mila's house and they go inside. Raven takes off her shoes and places her bag on the floor.

"Make yourself comfortable while I grab some stuff. Do you want a drink?" Mila asks.

"Uhm some water would be alright."
