I ran as fast as I could to the egde of district 12 where the woods was waiting for me. Stored in my bag were my knives and some cakes as well as fruit that I had swiped from the baker this morning. Breathing in deeply, I skidded to a stop in front of the fence and even though I knew that the fence was never on, I had to check for the faint noise of buzzing anyway. I cupped a hand around my ear. Silence.
Content that the fence was safe, I climbed under it and sprinted towards the tree where Katniss told me to conceal my bow and arrows. Placing them in my bag, I pressed two knives close to my chest, ready to check on my snares. Much to my disappointment, the first contained nothing, but the other two had caught a rabbit each.
Staring out onto the lake, I spotted Katniss on the other side of it, scowling at Gale who had scared the deer away. I sighed, disappointed with them, and with a laugh I threw my knife. It sliced through the air and within a few seconds it had shot through the deer's eye, pinning it to the ground. I jumped in the air, a triumphant grin across my face.
They both looked over to me, frozen in their positions with a look of pure shock spread across their faces. I clicked my fingers to get their attention. "Hey guys.... A little help maybe?" I called as I tried to lift the very heavy deer.
"See Gale, we could have lost the first deer we've seen in months if Tezzy wasn't here!" Katniss whined to Gale, as she reffered to me by using my nickname.
I chuckled to myself, and grinned. "So, Whale.. Catnip are you going to help me or are you going to argue?" I smirked, using ther nicknames.
Sighing, Gale held out his hand to help Katniss across the river. She jumped onto the nearest stone that was pressed into the sand below the surging current and she wobbled for a second, but was caught in the firm grip of Gale's hands. They laughed, leaning closer to one another, and then as they remembered I was still here, they both sighed, leaping onto the bank on the other side of the river to help me to pull the dear into the cart we hid for big kills.
Katniss grinned, one hand gripped onto the edge of the cart as she lowered herself to the grass, a patch of buttercups melting away beneath her weight. "We should eat now; Prim gave me some Goats Cheese!" the grin on Katniss' face grew, stretching from ear to ear.
"And I traded the baker a squirrel for this," Gale said revealing a roll of fresh bread from his pocket.
He held it out towards me, the scent of the bread creeping
Katniss spread the goats cheese on and we all ate in silence enjoying the food. "You will never guess what I got!" I exclaimed loudly. "I swiped some fresh fruit AND some chocolate cake!"
"No!" They replied in chorus. I just nodded and pulled out the fruit. I split it so that we had 10 strawberrys, 5 apples, 15 rasberrys and 2 oranges each.
"How did you get so much?!?!" Gale or as I like to call him Whale asked.
"Hey, I'm hurt you don't belive in my perswation skills!" I said holding both hands over my heart.
"Don't you mean your seduction skills?" Katniss mumbled under her breath so low I wasn't sure if she actually said it.
"Oh, Tiz I bow down to your mighty skills!" Gale said sarcastically.
We continued hunting for a little bit before going back to our rock that we sometimes meet up on. We said down and ate our fruit. "To the Hunger Games!" Katniss said in a sarcastic cheer.
"Happy Hunger Games!" Gale said in a fake Capital acsent.
"And may the odds ever be in your faver!" We all said together and then burst out laughing.
