*Caitlin's POV*

I gripped Emily's arm as we walked down the hall. We would be fine as long as we kept our heads down.

"Hey freak!" Someone yelled.

"What about it?" retorted Emily.

"No, I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to the tiny one."

I kept my head down, still to afraid to look up.

"What, are you too scared?" he taunted menacingly.

"Leave her alone, Hank," Emily stammered, trying to keep calm.

"And what are you going to do about it?" he laughed.

He walked closer to us.

"Just go! Please!" said Emily. I could tell she was trying to be fierce, but we were both too scared to really do anything. He ripped Emily and me apart, and tossed Emily to the floor.

"EMILY!" I screamed.

"So she speaks, eh?"

"Just leave us alone, please. What did we ever do to you?"

"You existed. You're so pathetic. No one wants you here, just go kill yourself."

Emily had gotten up during his little speech. I could tell she was steaming mad. I glared at her, trying to get her to stop. But of course, she's the most stubborn thing in the world. She snarled, and charged towards Hank kicking and screaming, and raking her non-existent nails across his face. His two goons pulled her off and punched her in the stomach.

"Oh, you should not have done that," he glared at her. She was sobbing on the floor at this point.

"Look, because of what you did, your friend here gets it."

"Please," I whimpered. "No more."

"Too bad," he mocked sympathy. He called his two goons over to me, and they took turns punching me in different places. Until the principal came. Finally.

"KNOCK IT OFF!" She screamed, and the boys instantly got off of me.

"What happened here?"

"I was just walking along, minding my own business, when that girl Emily starts taunting me, and calling me names. And then her little pal here joined in and started kicking and punching us." He glared at me, as if to say, "keep quiet or else." So I just looked at the floor, not wanting to get another dose of their medicine.

"Girls, detention. Boys, nurses office," the principal declared.

"Oh sure, they get the nurses office while they haven't a cut or bruise. But the people who have millions get to go to detention." I muttered under my breath.

Emily came by my side just then, and helped carry me to the girls bathroom.

"Are you okay?" I asked her, once we were there.

"Me?" She laughed bitterly. "I'm the one who just got you beat up."

"It wasn't your fault, they would have gotten me anyway."

"Look, let's just get you cleaned up."

She dabbed at my eye with a wet cloth, soaking up what little blood was there. We sat in silence. I was sure that she was beating herself up, but I knew that I couldn't change her mind.

We came into class, and the teacher glared at us. "Finally come to join us I see?"

"Yes ma'am." We muttered.

Seriously? Does no one notice the cuts and bruises?
