December 13, 1942, Camp McCoy, Wisconsin

Hitoshi had been at Camp McCoy for 5 months now for training, the army says that he still had to go to Camp Shelby before he would be sent overseas for war. While there, Hitoshi and the other Japanese-Americans were not trusted by their fellow soldiers, they thought they were going to betray them. Hitoshi and the others were referred to as Nisei soldiers because most of them are second generation Japs who's parents were immigrants.

While at Camp McCoy, Hitoshi and other Niseis had to sleep in tents instead of the barracks because they were not trustworthy. They were schooled in psychology and were ordered to test their physical and military capabilities but most of all their loyalty during their time in Wisconsin.

August 13, 1943, Camp Shelby, Mississippi

In one week, Hitoshi's battalion (the 100th Infantry Battalion) will be shipped off to North Africa, and after that, they'll be sent to the front lines in Italy. While Hitoshi won't be deployed to the Pacific like he had originally thought, he'll still be sent to war, Hitoshi don't know if he'll make it out alive but here's hoping the war won't be as bad as these men think.
