"REEESIE!" I heard my mother yell form probably the first floor. I groaned and turned away form my wall and stared at the floating green numbers. 8:34. I groaned. "Jesus. Why this early?" i rolled out of bed and shambled over to the small dresser over-flowing with clothes of all sizes. The gold framed mirror showed my thin face with disheveled short brown hair "So much shaping is going to happen today." I waved my hand over my dresser and an over sized black t-shirt floated out along with a pair of cargo pants. I quickly changed but left my hair a mess. I headed down the thin stairs of our 4 story house. It isn't all big and manor like, its more like the Burrow.
"Hey! Big Sis!" I ignored the high itched voice that came from one of the many children running around the house "Hey! Big Sis! Hey! Big Sis! Hey! Big Sis! Hey! Big Sis! Hey! Big Sis! Hey! Big Sis! Hey! Big Sis! Hey! Big Sis! Hey! Big Sis! Hey! Big Sis! Hey! Big Sis! Hey! Big Sis! Hey! Big Sis! Hey! Big Sis! Hey! Big Sis!"
"WHAT DO YOU WANT?"
"Hi!" and with that one of the youngest ran off down the stairs to go eat the massive breakfast that my mother prepared. I jumped onto the railing of the stairs and slid down the rest of the steps. When I jumped off at the bottom, my mother and fathers voices were clear in my head. Yelling at me about how dangerous that was and how it is bad to teach everyone else that. After all, I am the oldest. I stepped through the kitchen thresh hold to be met with the way too familiar smell of bacon, sausage, pancakes, and waffle smell. "REEEEESIEEE!!!!!" my mother screamed for the second time "OH! There you are my precious darling! Come! Sit down! Have some breakfast!"
"No thanks Mother." i walked over to where the coffee was brewing itself and i poured myself a huge cup of coffee. I narrowly missed the four toddlers screaming and chasing after each other trying in vain to hit the one in front with pancakes.I looked over at the two tables poorly connected to each other seating my 16 person family ( with triplets on the way ) i decided against eating with my family and headed upstairs to the comfort and silence of my room. The hot bitter coffee felt good going down my throat. At the very top of our house was a hidden staircase, I made my way up to the attic careful not to spill the liquid gold.
I sat on the roof staring out at the sleepy town. It would soon be busy and bustling with life in few short hours. I relished in these moments. It was weirdly calming. The rain came slowly at first, then it got progressively louder. With a small flick of my hand, an invisible canopy formed over me and my spot on the roof. "This is perfect!" yelled. It was raining on my birthday. My mother and father probably forgot that it was, but I didn't care. I was free, I could finally got and be somewhere i wanted to be. I would get my familiar and my weapon today! "Come inside! Right now!" i heard my mom yell over the pounding rain. The trip back down to the attic window was one that was often made by me. I swung into my room and slammed the window shut as hard as i could with another flick of my hand. "Hey sweetie pie." my mother said cheerfully "I know its your birthday and you are turning sixteen, so your father and i decided too..." she paused for suspense. My mind was racing with things she could possibly get me maybe allow me to use magic let me go be an apprentice get my familiar get my weapon "...Buh buh buh buh buh!" she pulled out an envelope. "Its for timers and more!". I smiled at her because i knew she was trying "Its so you can get one free clock fixed. No wait, So you can get one clock fixed for free. You might be able to sell it for some good money if you don't like it." It made me feel bad for what i was about to do next.
"Thank you Mother. I love it." i said taking it from her delicate hands. She gave me a huge smile and started to tear up. She closed the door with her foot and stepped towards me.
"Honey. I know you want to do magic, and i know you want to do it very much. Also i saw how one of the suitcases was missing..." she lowered her voice "There is money in the envelope. Go buy yourself some supplies. I think it will be enough. Go find you familiar and weapon. Go be the strongest witch/warlock you can be." I ran over and hugged her so hard. She was crying and sniffling into my chest because she was short (lol). She helped me pack my things because she knew that my father had already left. We stood on the front stoop together. Her long curly brown hair was a mess. I could see it greying at the roots from the stress of so many kids. In fact, I could hear them screaming and crying inside. "I love you Mother. Goodbye"
"I love you Reesie, Bye bye." i stepped out into the rain an began my journey.
