I jolted awake, my eyes going wide as they opened. A gasp left my mouth as I patted all over my body before checking my heartbeat...Yep, still have one! Wait, where am I? I look around the area and saw...Nothing. It was pitch black from every single direction. I sigh as I reach into my backpack, pulling out the flashlight and giving it a good few shakes before turning it on. I'm so glad my bag and everything inside survived the drop. However, when I turned on the light, something seemed off. It looked like it didn't even push through the darkness at all; like it was sucking up the light or something...Weird. I stand up with a heaving push, groaning as my body ached in response. However with a good few stretches, cracks and pops included, I felt much better. But, back on track here...Where am I? Last thing I remember was falling down that hole, screaming for dear life. And now I'm here. Where IS here? I don't even know as of right now. I begin to walk around this virtually engulfing room. God, I feel like it will just swallow me whole! But enough about that...It's time I figure out where I am. There has to be an exit somewhere, I just know it....I just have to find it within the void.
I walked for what felt like hours, with nothing found what so ever. Everything looks the exact same, save for the occasional out of place rock or small pit in the ground...That I fall into. But something caused me to stop in my tracks...Whining? Was there some other form of living creature down here?! How!? Whatever it was; it sounded scared as all hell. I change course to follow the main direction of the sound...Didn't help that this place echoes, or doesn't allow sound at all. But after a good minute of walking, I found it. Shining my light at the source caused it to stop almost immediately. And it caused my heart to jump into my throat. A tiny creature that came up to my knee sat cowered before me. Its body skin and bones...Literally. I could see the ribs, arm bones, and leg bones of this strange creature. It had one milky white eye, with no pupils or iris of any sort...Just white. The other eye was a button, stitched on extremely well. A straight line parted the two parts of this creature's face, with razor sharp teeth poking out of the thin line- well...Mouth, I suppose. I knelt down, the creature jolted back in utter fear. "Hey little guy..." I whisper, surprised that the area around me is letting me speak. "I don't want to hurt you...Are you hungry?" I ask, getting another pang of surprise as the creature nods with urgency. I slide the bag off my back, reaching in and pulling out a bite sized, chocolate chip cookie. I hold the snack with my thumb and index finger, holding it out to the creature, who seemed hesitant before slowly taking it from me, being as gentle as a mother to a baby. It opened its mouth, somewhat freaking me out for a brief moment...It's mouth split the two halves of the face entirely. Its face seemed to stretch backward to open its sideways jaws. "So strange..." I mutter, watching it stuff the cookie into its mouth; the creature letting out a pleased mumble from the sweet treat. It then walks over to me, reaching up and grabbing my hand with care. I blink "Are you still hungry?" I whisper to it once more, it once again surprised me by shaking its head. I mutter out in confusion "Then...What do you want?" The creature then gave me my response, by rubbing its head against my hand. I smile brightly, it just wants affection! I use my other hand to scratch it below its chin, it seems to like it quite a lot. It then walks up to my bent knee, gripping onto my pants and pulling itself up. What a smart creature it was, it further proved my point by climbing all the way up to my shoulder, rubbing its face against my cheek. I chuckled as I pet the creature softly "You remind me of a puppet...And my sweet cat Mitten...Ah! I'll call you, Mippen. How does that sound?" I said to the little creature, who let out a happy squeak. I suppose Mippen was a good choice for my new little companion. I stand up, letting my bag slide back over my shoulders "Mippen, do you have any others...Possibly friends?" I asked with hope that there would be more companions for me to befriend. But sadly, Mippen shook its head, whining with just has much lost hope as I had. I chuckled softly "It's okay friend, I understand...Don't worry about it." I said to it, feeling it press against my cheek once more. I began walking once more, with Mippen in tow. I asked it many questions, which it gladly answered with nods and hand motions. It preferred male pronouns, so I will call Mippen a 'him' from now on. It eats sweets, small fruits, and bacon. And if some options aren't around, it will take whatever is small enough. It loves the dark, but doesn't mind the occasional light. And I was told, via hand motions, that Mippens gain a large white iris when it trusts someone very much. It showed me that Mippen didn't fully trust me yet. Rightfully so! I'm a stranger who just barged up to a sad little puppet boy and offered him a cookie before picking him up and walking away. Oh god...What if Mippen has a mom or dad!? Oh wait- He just shook his head...He doesn't have parents. Interesting. They're like ants in a way...Mippen gave me a general idea of what happened to him. He and a larger Mippen were fighting, and...Mippen ran away, the bigger one followed him until...Whoa wait. Something scooped the bigger Mippen up and ate it!? I asked him how big, and he motioned waaay above my head. I gulped, something that big was out there somewhere...And I had to hope to god that it would be dead by now. But I'm not gonna get that luxury, am I? Of course not! Why would I get a nice safe treatment down here in Satan's ass-crack? Yes, I am calling it that now. Well, after a good while's worth of walking, I slumped to the ground. All that walking has got me tired out, and Mippen could tell. I laid down on my side, Mippen climbing down and and snuggling between my arm and my stomach "Pff...Night Mips.." I mutter, hearing a small noise from my small companion back. I smile and slowly shut my weary eyes. Letting the painful comfort of sleep pull me away from this strange place. I wished this place was a dream when I first arrived...And I still do. But at least it gave me, my new little buddy. I'll cherish him. And we'll make it out of here...Together. However...A burning sensation rose on my neck...The feeling of being watched. Looks like I won't be sleeping long.
