It had been more than half a year and she would be back from Maluku and finally meet Booth.
She had imagined meeting him and confessing her love to him and Booth sweeping her off her feet and saying the same things.
What she had not expected was for him to find love.
"Booth seems happy with Hannah. You all seem happy." Brennan had told Angela during their first case since she got back.
"Seems like I am the only one who is living the life I had expected." Brennan said.
"Honey and how is that going?" Angela asked.
At the end of the case when the kidnapper was caught and the mother had met her child after days, Brennan was happy.
She couldn't explain the joy she had seen on the mother's face but it was something irreplaceable. It was love to its most.
She had wanted that feeling. And she had known that Booth would give her that feeling. It had to be only Booth. It had always been only Booth and no one else.
When the entire team was celebrating their first case since she got back, Booth had left early. Brennan wanted to spend time with Booth, tell him about everything since he was his best friend. But he had made some lame excuse and left.
Brennan saw him leave with Hannah. She also saw him kissing her. Like he loved her. Brennan had always believed that it was no use regretting what decision one had made in the past, but now she regretted turning Booth down. And that hurt her the most.
She had to move on. She had decided to.
