It took awhile for us to reach our new home and when we did I couldn't have been any happier.

On the way, mother refused to turn on the radio and insisted on having a conversation with me, as if she didn't already know everything about me.

She slowly pulled up to the driveway, alongside the moving truck. I took a deep breath and started to get out of the car but I felt a rough tug on my sleeve.

Mother had yanked me close to her. "You better not embarrass me. Understand?" she harshly whispered in my ear, spit hitting my cheek. I shook my head immediately before following her out of the car.

The front of the house was nice and homely, but it still wasn't home. I walked up next to mother who was talking to the movers about the leftover furniture.

"I'm paying you to move ALL of it, understand?" she strictly told them, hands on her hips like she was in charge.

The tall dark man opened his mouth but was cut off.

"Unless you don't want to get paid." The dark man rolled his eyes and directed his head to the tall white man next to him to get the remaining furniture.

I looked back at her, as small smirk made it's way to her face.

"C'mon hon," she grabbed my hand as we went into the house.
