I rolled over, trying to get to the comfy side on my bed, but I forgot I was on the couch and me rolling over resulted in falling onto the living room floor with a thud. I landed on my back and let out a grunt the second my body made contact with the hardwood. I opened my eyes and blinked a bit so my vision would adjust and it wasn't even light outside.
"What? What time is it?" I mumbled to myself as I stood up and grabbed my phone, pressing the button so the screen would light up. "Three thirty? Ugh." I threw my phone back onto the couch and stood up, stretching my arms but hissing from how sore they were.
I groaned and walked around the dark living room a bit, kicking things and wincing a couple of times and picking up things that looked sketchy. I danced around a bit, humming All of Me by john Legend (I did ballet as a a kid.) and I finally decided what I wanted to do. I began to walk up the stairs and I opened the door to my room to find Luke wide awake.
"Luke?" I asked, surprised that he wasn't still asleep.
"Your bed is really comfortable." He said, looking to me as I stood in the doorway.
"Yeah, I've been on the couch. It's not very comfortable." I said, walking in and closing the door.
"You were on the couch? I thought you dropped me here and then left with a guy.. I'm sorry." He said and then scooted to the left side, raising up my covers. "C'mon."
I climbed into my side of the bed and covered up, nuzzling into the comforter and then flipped over to face Luke.
"Thanks, Lucas." I said, smiling.
"You're welcome, Vendetta. Now get some sleep." He replied and I flipped onto my other side, closing my eyes. I began to feel my body relax and I was almost asleep until I heard words that made me smile widely.
"Night, soft grunge."
-next day-
I woke up and stretched my arms, yawning. I looked over, about to wake Luke up, but he wasn't lying there anymore. I frowned in confusion and got up, walking out of my room and downstairs. The house was dead silent and I walked around, looking in each room.
"Mom? Dad? Luke?" I called out, waiting for a reply but I never got one. I picked up my phone and finally everything made sense, I had a text from my mom and Luke; both of them said where they were. My mom was out with my dad buying stuff for their business trip coming up and Luke's mom wanted him home.
I got into the shower since it was nine thirty and I washed my hair with coconut shampoo and washed my body with Body Wash that smelled like Roses. After I got out, I pulled my hair into a pony tail, letting my bangs hang out, and I got dressed. I put on a red and black plaid shirt that was long sleeved, ripped skinny jeans, and grey converse. I grabbed my keys and began driving to the book store that was down the street. People were bumping into me as I walked through the bookstore with my Starbucks in my hand. I picked up three books and began checking out.
"Whoa, I'm so sorry!" I apologized quickly to the person I just ran into, making me drop my books and coffee.
"It's okay," it was a boy, his voice was soothing. He helped me pick up my books off of the bookstore's floor and he picked up my coffee cup and tossed it into the garbage. I stood up and finally got to look into his eyes. They were almost black like his hair, his hair flopped across his forehead and it looked soft enough to run my fingers through.
It was the boy from the kitchen.
"I'm V-Vendetta." I stuttered, smiling like an idiot at the boy I spilled coffee on. "Sorry for that," I said, gesturing to the Starbucks stain on his shirt. His smile was warm and inviting.
"It's alright, Vendetta." He said, holding out his hand. "I'm Calum." Calum.. I shook his hand slowly.
"C'mon, I'll get you another coffee..
Considering your first one ended up all over me." He said, laughing.
"No, it's okay. You don't have to do that." I said to him, smiling.
"I want to."
We walked to the small coffee shop, Starbucks, that was in the bookstore. The line was pretty long, so Calum and I were sharing a small conversation. It was kind of awkward.
"So, you like reading?" He asked, pointing to the books that were once on the floor when I dropped them.
"A bit." I replied, looking up to him and smiling.
We finally got to the front of the line, and we ordered our coffee. Calum got a regular coffee and I got a peppermint Mocha. Once they gave it to us, I handed Calum money to pay him back.
"Thanks for the coffee," I said, putting my back pack on my shoulders. "I gotta go meet my friend, but it was nice." I said and began to get up.
"Vendetta!" He said before I walked away. "At least let me have your number.." He said and I smiled.
"I thought you out of all people would have already known that I wrote it on one of those dollars."
