Ch4
(Pandora's Point of View)
I looked down at my jacket, covered with my tears.
~~Flash back~~
"Pandora!" (?) yelled after me, which made me whirl around and chuckle to myself.
"(?)! What's up, man?"
"I wanted to give you something. Something you said you needed."
"I don't remember saying I needed anything.."
"No refunds." He said smiling. "Just.. Close your eyes?"
"Alright, but no alleyways! I know what can happen there!!" I made clear, which made him chuckle. He led me to where we always go to.. Escape. Ever since childhood, we'd hang out in our makeshift treehouse. We would tell all our secrets there, help eachother through tough times, just talk, or sit there, enjoying silence.
"Well, we're here." He said, uncovering my eyes. I looked at the treehouse made many years before, and before I knew it, I was climbing up to it.
"It's not that great.. But here." He showed a green jacket to me, and I took it.
"It matches your, oh so beautiful eyes, Pandie." I smiled at the familiar nickname.
"(?)... Thank you!! I really did need this.. " I thanked him, putting it on.
I walked a step forward, not realizing I left my backpack there. After shamefully hitting the ground, I noticed I landed on (?). His face was so red someone could mistake it for a giant tomato. Mine was probably the same.
"I-I'm s-sorry!!" I said, scotching away, but something told me I shouldnt've.
"It's ok.." He said looking away.
The rest of that night was talking our minds away, stopping sometimes to relax. Before we left at nightfall, he gave me a walkie-talkie.
"In case anything happens, okay?" He said, talking out both. "Every night at dusk can we check in?" He continued. "Something is coming.. And I don't want anything to happen. Is that okay?"
"Of course." I promised.
So, at dusk, I got on my walkie.
"Hey, (?), you there?" I asked, waiting for a reply. After five minutes I was getting worried. "(?)? Dude, are you there? You're starting to scare me. Please answer."
"Mom! Can I go check to (?)'s house? I left my backpack there."
"Sure sweetie! Just don't do anything you're going to regret, okay?"
" MOM!!" I yelled, embarrassed.
"Have fun! Also, be back before 10. Tomorrow is a school day, Friday at that."
"I know, test day. Gonna suck. Bye!"
I ran out the door, thanking God I only lived about 10 minutes away from (?).
After arriving to his house, I knocked on his door. No reply. "(?)!! Are you home? Is anybody?" After that, I knocked again, louder this time. No reply. Then, I picked the front door lock. Yes, I know have lock picking skills, but I only use them when I need to. I stepped in cautiously, not making the slightest sound in case someone had robbed them or something. After checking the house thoroughly, I found nothing. I felt disappointed and scared.
~~Back to the present~~
After that night, I never saw him again. I went into depression.. We knew each other so long, and randomly one night, he disappeared. I try my walkie every night, but get no answer. I've also worn my jacket for the almost 3 years I haven't seen him..
After giving my family the proper burial, I packed everything I owned and went on the road, looking for Asake.
