Tris POV

I know how he's changing it, and I know it will be fun, but it will challenge the initiates in ways they may not recover from.

"Initiates, listen up!" Eric yells. How he is still a trainer, I do not know. His sorry second place ass just wants to constantly beat Four.

"Two teams, everyone has a gun!"

"A gun?" a panicked candor transfer asks. "Paintball guns. They leave welts when you get hit, but that's the only injury they inflict." I step in before Eric spits faulty information out.

Glaring at me, Eric starts talking again. "Me against Four. Four, you pick first." I watch as Four picks out the fast kids. He wants to play the game differently, to challenge the kids, to use teamwork and true Dauntless qualities. Some will step up as leaders and others will be pushed down as if they are nothing but human shields.

"Alright, let's go." Four jumps off the train and I follow, Christina with me. Were not exactly playing, so much as helping teach. Christina is working in the clothes store most of the time so she doesn't have interactions with the initiates like Four and I do.

"Where did you hide the flag?" a quite girl from Erudite asks. Her bringing up has taught her to ask questions, and one day it may get her in trouble but right now, it may save the day.

"By the pier." Four responds.

"Six, what about you?" she turns to me and Christina smiles, high-fiving me.

"We hid it on the carousal, but we won by getting their flag first."

"Offense versus defense. Interesting." a particularly bright Erudite boy ponders upon ideas.

"How did you find it?"

"Seeking higher ground always helps. Now let's move." I start walking again and my slight frame,now muscular and angular,rather than thin and soft, walks through the path the initiates make.

I take Four's hand and whisper so quietly I almost can't hear myself.

"Run."

And we do.
