[notes at end]
"Where are you taking me to watch the fireworks this year, Alfie?" he questioned, folding up his last shirt and stuffing it into his backpack.

"I was thinking of going to Phillie and taking you to the block party. It's kind of new and I wanted to show you something awesome this year that you haven't seen yet," he replied, skipping over to where his brother stood checking to make sure he had everything, and wrapped his arms around his shoulders. "What d'you think?"

Matthew hummed. "Yeah, I think that sounds good. And it'll just be you and me still, right?"

"Right!" Alfred smiled and stepped back, also looking over the various articles laid out on the bed. "You got everything?" Canada nodded. "Alright, then, let's go already!"

"You're quite impatient today, Alfie."

"I know I am; we've got places to be, people to see! I don't wanna waste any more time than I have to." He scooped up both of their backpacks of clothes and slung them on his left shoulder and grabbing his brother with his right, pulling him out of the bedroom and quickly making their way outside where Alfred's truck sat idling.

"Wow, Alfie..." he sighed in almost hidden amazement. There were so many people there, and they were all talking and doing something different from the person next to them. He turned in a circle, taking it all in. "This is... this is amazing."

The American looked smug. "'Course it is! It's my birthday tomorrow and here there's a whole week of celebrations! They have all sorts of shit, Mattie!"

Matthew put a hand to his stomach as he felt it grumble. "Think we could find anything to eat around here? I'm starving."

Excitement lit up his face, and he almost started vibrating from it. "Oh yes there's all kinds of food here! Stalls full of things from different regions around my country. What're you in the mood for?"

He shook his head and chuckled at the other's obsession with food, specifically his own. "Surprise me. It's been quite a while since I've eaten something of yours that you hadn't made yourself."

Alfred smirked deviously, looking around the street for the nearest vender of a certain type. Once he found what he had been looking for, he turned to his brother and pointed to where he intended to go. "Let's go eat over there."

Matthew shrugged, not caring where they went as long as they ate something, and soon. "Alright, whatever. But quit dawdling and let's go already!"

"Who's the impatient one now?"

"Oh shut up, hoser."

The twins maneuvered their way through the crowd, stopping at the small stall. Alfred ordered two of something, handed the girl in the stall a fifty (telling her to keep the change) and in return got two lumps of wrapped foil. He handed one to his brother and kept one for himself.

"Alright let's go sit on the steps of the old state house or something so we don't have to stand," Alfred suggested, looping their arms together and taking off to the old building.

"Alright, dude, try it!" Alfred promted, speaking oddly clearly around a mouthful of food.

"But Alfie it's bright orange!" His eyes were wide as he held up the piece of chicken, covered in an orange sauce that burned the skin.

"Yeah and it's amazing. Don't be a wuss and try it already."

Canada looked at it nervously, took a deep breath to steel himself, and took a bite of it, swallowing slowly. "This isn't so bad."

Alfred smirks. "Just wait a few seconds, dude."

As soon as he finished the sentence, Matthew's eyes and mouth flew open, and he let out a silent scream, tears streaming down his face. America started to laugh as he fanned his mouth.

"What, can't handle a little spice from Carolina?"

"Fuck you what the hell is this?!" he panted, taking a long drink from his bottle of water, attempting to get it to stop burning.

"Carolina Reaper hot sauce, bro. It'll take out even some of the most heat-insensitive people in the world!" Alfred doubled over in laughter, shaking his head and trying to calm down again.

"You assbucket!"
