" Bitch."
" Jackass."
" Wife."
" Jackass."
" That's not very ladylike," Andrew scolded.
" Oh, Andrew, darling. I don't give a damn," I retorted.
" Please, admit it you're married me for my money," Andrew teased.
" Your money! I'm marrying you for my money," I protested.
" Gold digger..." He whispered.
" Uh huh, I want my inheritance," I shook off his comment.
" Gold digger." He repeated, smiling.
" You're marrying me for my money!" I argued.
" Your money! I'm marrying you for my money," He mocked me.
It was the truth. We wanted our inheritance, so we made a deal with each of our parents. If we marry, we get our money. When I say money, I mean millions of dollars in inheritance, each.
" So it's arranged?" A high-pitched voice sounded from behind me.
My mother. Oh, God.
" Absolutely!" Andrew agreed enthusiastically, putting his arm around me and turning around to face my mother.
I knew this game. We needed to look like a couple.
My mother looked at me, " Amanda?"
" Mom! Don't be ridiculous Andrew is-" I started.
How was I going to finish? Snobby? Arrogant? Self centered?
" The love of my life!" I finished.
I heard Andrew quietly laugh and elbowed him.
" Ouch," He murmured.
My mother, not having noticed the ordeal before, noticed this, " Andrew?"
" I said. I agree," Andrew lied, " I couldn't imagine loving anyone else like I love your daughter!"
The second half was true. The desperate hating we felt for each other was only outmatched by the sheer amount of our inheritance.
" I'm happy to hear that," My mother narrowed her eyes, " But Selena and I have been talking and we will only give you your inheritance once you've been married a year."
" What? Mother!" I protested.
" I didn't think that would be a problem. Seeing as you love each other so much," Her mother countered.
" I wasn't suggesting that we would ever split up," Actually I was, as soon as possible, " I was just saying, how will we live?"
" You don't think your parents can support you?" My mother asked. She looked offended.
" We are going to live here?" Andrew said incredulously.
" No, no, no! You two need your privacy! But we will be monitoring your spending," My mother backtracked.
" Monitoring our spending?" I asked, " Mother no!"
" Yes, we need to know what you two will do with our money. We'll also be checking up on you," My mother explained.
" But what if one of us cheats!" I made my final argument.
My mother looked at me sadly, " Then one of you will get both of your inheritance."
Andrew and I looked at each other. The game was on.
