I slowly awoke, burying my head deeper into the soft pillow just beneath it. I slightly smiled to myself, my eyes still closed as I brought the wool blanket up farther towards my neck. Wait, pillow? Wool blanket?

I jolted forwards faster than a car in ice water, taking in my unknown surroundings. I was in a room with two beds opposite from the other, one pink, while I was on the green one. Hanging on the walls were a few bands, two I recognized as The Sulky Boys and Emica.

I hesitantly swung my legs off the bed, shakily bringing myself to my feet. I stepped over towards the pink side of the room, spotting three small photos on the wall. As I got closer, i could make out two babies. Opposite gender twins, by the looks of it.

The female had peach skin, a few teeth, and a small amount of brown hair with a pink bow. She was wearing a pink shirt with black pinstripes, a turquoise dress, white ankle length socks, and pink shoes. The dress had a white handkerchief on the left side and a yellow duck on the right. She wasn't wearing any pants underneath, exposing a white diaper.

The male had the same peach skin, with a football shaped head. He had a few teeth as well with a small amount of brown hair. He wore the same shirt and dress as the female, but with a pair of blue shorts and sneakers. It seemed silly for a boy to wear a dress, but if that's what his parents made him wear. They seemed oddly familiar, but I just couldn't put my finger tip on it.

I snapped my head towards the door, sensing a presence behind me. And I was right. My eyes widened as I backed up, spotting two figures in the doorway. One was female, with shoulder length brown hair with one pink streak in the front. The male also had brown hair, with a football shaped head. I turned my head over to the baby pictures, then back to them. The twins.

"I didn't think she was ever gonna wake up," The boy laughed. His voice was rough and scratchy as he spoke, but I could tell he was around 13 like me. The girl rolled her eyes, glancing back over at me who probabaly looked like a lost puppy right about now.

"I'm Lil, and this is my little brother, Phil," She introduced, smirking over at the boy who I now knew as Phil. He growled, clenching his fists.

"Little brother?! Your older by 2 minutes," He stated, standing over his sister by a few inches. If you weren't paying attention, you would think they were the same height.

"Do you know what that means in girl years?" Lil asked, crossing her arms over her chest as she stared at the boy. He stared back, eyebrows narrowed, letting out a few words that I couldn't hear from where I was standing. "Didn't think so."

She then turned back to me, this time Phil being a few inches behind her. I swallowed, unsure of how, or why they brought me here. Or even who they were.

"What's your name?" She asked, and I noticed a small roughness to her voice too which rose from her throat with certain words.

"Taylor," I mumbled, wrapping my arms around my body. I finally realised I wasn't wearing my jacket anymore, making me turn and frantically look around the room.

"Did a monster bite you?" Phil snickered, making me roll my eyes, but of course he couldn't see. I could hear a smack, and then a groan of pain.

"Your coats downstairs, if that's what your looking for," I heard Lil inform me, making me exhale in relief as I turned back towards her. I nodded at her, in a way of saying thanks. I was silent back at home, which resulted in me being quiet almost everywhere.

"Taylor, why were you asleep behind our house?" Phil asked, his arms crossed as he stared me down. I blinked a few times, staring down at my feet.

"I don't know," I mumbled, not making eye contact between them at all. My father once said that making eye contact with someone who asks you a question was rude. Deep down I knew it was a lie, but I've grown used to it and it just happens without meaning to.

"You don't know how you-"

"Phil, calm down!" Lil growled, pushing her brother back by his chest. She then stepped closer to me, making me stiffen up a little. She took notice, stopping in a halt before sharing a look with Phil.

"Are you okay? You seem..tense?" She softly asked, staring at me in worry. I avoided her gaze as I nodded, shuffling my feet along the wooded floors. It was silent for a few moments, making my heart race a little.

I glanced up through my eyelashes to the girl, who seemed to be talking telepathicly to her twin. I knew they weren't, but they were twins, so they knew exactly what the other was thinking. I didn't know how I knew that, but I did.

"I should probabaly go," I mumbled, gazing down at my shoes as if they were the brightest thing in the room. But, really, I was just looking at worn out dark converse shoes.

"Your not even gonna stay for breakfast?" Phil asked, staring at me in a new way. It seemed gentle, as if he thought he would hurt me by just the tone in his voice.

I shook my head, scratching away at the itchiness of my arms. I have noticed that, in my lifetime, my arms would get itchy when I was nervous or uncomfortable. I caught Lil eyeing my bag full of things over on her bed, making me stiffen. I packed that bag yeaterday, knowing that I was never going to go back to live with my father. He was too far gone with his alcohol and drugs, and who knows what he could do. I could end up dead..
