(Y/N) ALWAYS THOUGHT that time would stand still for her, and that nothing would change. She assumed that her friends would always still be around. She expected her life to be the same every day.

"(Y/n) (L/n)! Hurry up and get down here! We have to leave soon!" (Y/n)'s mother called out from downstairs in the entrance. (Y/n) groaned and dialed her childhood friend Izumi's number. "Hello?" Izumi said when she answered. "Hey, Izumi," (Y/n) replied with an exasperated sigh. "I'm about to leave, and I just wanted to say that I hope you'll visit me in Konoha." Izumi chuckled. "First Temari, then you, huh?"

Temari was the first in their small group of friends to leave from Suna to Konoha. Now, it was time for (Y/n) to leave.

"Yeah, I guess so," (Y/n) mumbled. Silence lingered in the air for a minute before (Y/n) said goodbye and hung up. She walked out of her bedroom and down the stairs with a couple of bags in hand. "I'm ready," she said to her parents. She wasn't.

About a week later, it was time for (Y/n) to go to her new school and start her first day as "the new kid"

About a week later, it was time for (Y/n) to go to her new school and start her first day as "the new kid". She was a little anxious, but overall, she felt pretty confident that she'd be able to come up with a comeback when someone started bullying her.

As soon as she walked into the building, a girl with dark blue hair and lavender eyes came up to her with the sweetest smile you could imagine. (Y/n) tensed up.

"H-Hi," the girl stuttered shyly. (Y/n) looked around to make sure the girl wasn't talking to anyone else. "Uh, hello," she said with a small smile.

"I-I'm Hinata," the timid girl said. "You must be Temari's friend. You're (Y/n), right?"

(Y/n) nodded. "Um, yes, I'm (Y/n) (L/n)."

'Ugh, you're so awkward (Y/n). You're probably scaring Hinata.'

"Wanna come meet my friends?" Hinata asked in a welcoming manner. (Y/n) nodded nonchalantly, but on the inside, she was pretty excited. Then, they walked through the school and to where Hinata's friends were.

"Guys!" Hinata called out happily when they reached a pretty large group of people, suddenly losing her shy and tentative attitude.

They all looked at the two. Standing before (Y/n) was a blonde-haired guy with a childish grin, a raven-haired guy wearing a frown, a girl with short pink hair and pretty green eyes, and a lot of others.

"(Y/n)," Hinata began to introduce, "these are my friends." (Y/n) just nodded again, overwhelmed.

"This is N-Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Sai, Ino, Shikamaru, Choji, Kiba, Shino, Tenten, Lee, and Neji," Hinata said while pointing at them one by one.

When she pointed at the boy named Neji, (Y/n) glanced at him, and her chest grew heavy. Her breathing became unsteady as she practically stared into his lavender eyes. She was too distracted to notice, but Neji was staring back just as intently.

"Um, (Y/n)," said Hinata. Both (Y/n) and Neji snapped out of their thoughts. "Are two just gonna keep staring at each other or what!?" Naruto said rather loudly.

(Y/n) and Neji's cheeks were now red with embarrassment.

After school ended, (Y/n) and Hinata were walking home together when (Y/n) asked the question that had been on her mind all day

After school ended, (Y/n) and Hinata were walking home together when (Y/n) asked the question that had been on her mind all day. "Are you and Neji related?"

Hinata's eyes widened for a moment, but she smiled. "Yes. Neji and I are cousins. Why do you ask?" (Y/n) ignored the question. "What's your last name?" she asked, still curious. Hinata raised an eyebrow. "Hyuga." (Y/n) nodded, and turned her head away from her new friend to hide her soft smile.

'Did I really just see Neji for the first time? I feel so anxious and shocked, yet I'm more... happy... than anything.'

"Do you two know each other?"

(Y/n) hesitated. "No," she said quietly as she stared at the colorful evening sky. "Neji and I have never met."
