I get off the bus and walk home like I do every day after school. The walk gives me time to clear my head. I could sure use it based on the hell I go through at home. The cold air whips my hair into my face as I brace myself for what I'm about to enter in. I slowly open the front door and I can already hear mom yelling at dad. "Get off your lazy ass and do something! I work my ass off all day and what to you do all day? Absa - fricken - lutely nothin!?" she screamed at him.

"Don't talk to me that way!" he screamed back. Then I heard the familiar sound. The harsh sound of hand against skin. Dad hit her. Again. I push myself through the door, and both of them turn to look at me. They just pretend like nothing had just happened. "Hi honey, how was school?" asked mom.

"Fine." I mumble and walk up to my bedroom. As soon as they think that I'm out of earshot, they just continue what I had interrupted. I slam my door and crank up my music. I try my best to shut out the two of them downstairs.

Oh. By the way, I'm Olivia. Olivia Walker.
