~•2 years earlier•~

Emma dragged Regina onto the dance floor, as "their song" was playing. It made no sense to play "Cool Kids" at a club, but hey, you can't control that. "He's cute," Emma said smiling and pointing at a guy sitting at the bar. He had dark hair, with piercing blue eyes that were staring right back at them. Regina walked over and turned back to face Emma for a second. Regina sat on the stool next to the handsome mystery man.

"Give me your name, your number and a drink and I'm all yours," she said biting her lip. The mystery man laughed. "Well, first off, I'm Killian Jones. And you are?" he asked. "Regina Mills. Nice to meet you, Mr. Jones." She held out her hand. He shook it. "And you, Miss Mills."

~•1 and a half years later•~

Regina walked down the street, holding the arm of her new fiancé, Killian. They walked into the club where they first met. "I'm going to run to the washroom," Killian said. Regina nodded and went to sit at the bar, where she texted Emma.

She took a selfie with her ring and sent it with the text, "guess what?😍" Within 10 seconds, Emma had responded with an abundance of messages, surprised and excited for her best friend. Regina smiled, texted her back "thanks", and looked up to see her handsome Killian Jones walking towards the bar. They both laughed when "Cool Kids" started playing over the club speakers. "Care to dance, Mrs. Jones?" Killian asked. Regina tilted her head back and laughed. "Why yes, Mr. Jones."

Back at their formerly shared apartment, Emma out her phone down, the selfie of Regina's smiling face still on it. It was a beautiful picture of a beautiful person. The only thing that wasn't beautiful was the ring on Regina's finger, and why she was happy.

Emma slouched back on her couch, staring at the TV, not paying attention to the show. She contemplated on the past. Her and Regina talking about what they wanted to do in the future. Her and Regina arguing about what to order for dinner that night. Her and Regina laughing until they couldn't breathe about each other's jokes.

Her and Regina.

She thought of the one that got away. Her best friend that slipped away. Her soulmate that slipped away. But was she just jealous?
