BAYANIHAN / tagalog word: from the root word bayani meaning 'hero'

The generation of my childhood had been bare witness of the last instance of this 'true filipino' culture. Some label this as good values of sharing and caring or for 'cooperativism' this is the expression of the principle of unity and cooperation. For the religious--this is one way of expressing God's love by extending good deeds to neighbors who are in need. For communist--this is the best manifestation of a sound community wherein people are working to achieve the common good and equally sharing the resources for the betterment of all members.

But for me, this event is actually showing how Filipinos are creative amidst the limited resources around. I called this as a DISCOVERY or a TECHNOLOGY that is very useful in the early times of the country's civilization. We call it in the vernacular as BAYANIHAN or the culture of 'mutual-exchange-labor' in the basis of volunteerism norms. Literally, the root word of the term is bayani which means 'hero' thus adding the suffix HAN to make it BAYANIHAN simply implied 'community members consolidated act of heroism offered to co-members who are in need.

But I would like to highlight the brilliance of Filipino ideas that showcase the virtue of resourcefulness in finding initiatives in order to execute a task in the modest way considering the scarcity of formal and systematic education.

Indeed, Filipinos are GREAT inventors and developers of technologies that addresses the real challenge being faced at a given time with the genuine purpose of helping and supporting each other in the community---which I believe should be the foundation and the primary cornerstone of a true inventor in any given time.
