~ chapter 1 - Wrong day, right person? ~
The early morning sun was breaking through the windows as Belle woke from a restless slumber. She was breathing heavily and her body was refusing to cooperate with the mental demand to move. It was her first morning in a new home and she felt exceptionally unenthusiastic about starting her day. Well, could you blame her? She'd never been a morning person and definitely not after getting merely 3 hours of sleep. Let alone the awful, crammed flight to London, the ungodly hour she arrived at her flat and the jetlag she was starting to experience...
Finally Belle managed to roll out of the makeshift bed, that was really just a matress, and sprawled out on the hardwood floor. After getting chilled enough to make herself feel the need to move she propped on all fours and crawled out of the living room space into the bathroom. Not at all ladylike, but she couldn't care less at that moment, after all it was early morning. Pushing herself up from the floor, she got rid of the shirt and panties she wore to bed last night and was ready to start her cleansing rituals.
Thank god she had had the sense of pulling out the toiletries out of her case that night before blacking out for good. Shoving the clothes into a corner with one foot, she got into the shower, started the water and trying to avoid getting any shampoo in her eyes, the redhead managed to get through her morning routine without any incidents.
After the shower and some crazy fumbling through the few suitcases in the corner, she was finally ready to start her day, well, ready enough to go find some breakfast. Clad in black skinnies and a biege sweatshirt, Belle has just finished blowdrying her hair. Looking around the empty flat her stomach grumbled and she decided to head out.
Gazing at the beautiful old buildings outside and trying to not gawk at everyone as they passed her, it took her a few minutes to realize something very important. Belle stopped dead in her tracks panick overtaking her whole demeanor. She couldn't believe herself - she has forgotten to grab her keys, or purse for that matter. She had no phone, not that she had anyone to call here, no coat, because why would she need to carry one? Back in Africa she couldn't stand being in her shirt let alone a jacket... And just as fate would have it small wet droplets started to fall from the sky. Shocked she just stood there for a moment, not really processing the situation entirely. Blinking once, twice, she had to remind herself to breathe. And then move. The girl ducked for cover at the nearest building and for a moment just gazed at the rain blankly.
Five minutes of deep breaths and thinking happy thoughts later, Belle managed to calm herself a bit. She knew that panicking wont help her. Looking around, takimg in her surroundings she spotted the small cafe on the opposite street corner thinking it won’t be that bad of an idea to go and ask to make a phone call, maybe the emplyees could help her find a locksmith...And so she ran for it.
Opening the door, Belle was engulfed in the warm aroma of coffee, cinnamon and baked goods. She went to the counter listening to the people around her, some accents were smooth, some quite rough and jarred. It was quite endeering.
Reaching the small queue, the person infront suddenly turned to go and walked straight into her. Belle fell to the ground and felt hot liquid soaking her hair, swetshirt and jeans. Shocked yet again, she didnt have the time to react before two strong, slender hands grasped her own and pulled her on her feet again. The stranger was apologizing profusely but in her despair all Belle did was to look at her dripping self and laugh.
'Hey, I'm sooo terribly sorry, are you alright? does it hurt anywhere?...' Startled from her madness, she suddenly looked up to the most beautiful eyes she had ever seen, and was taken aback by the concern she saw in them.
