Chapter Five

"Fall for someone with an air of mystery and wildness in their bones, but with the kindest eyes and a thousand beautiful stories woven their their soul."

Her red hair smelt like lavender, sprawled out on the white sheets

Her red hair smelt like lavender, sprawled out on the white sheets. Most of her makeup had rubbed off onto the pillow leaving it a grubby yellow colour but I didn't mind. She moved a lot as she slept, twisting and turning every five seconds. Part of me wanted to just push her down and keep her there so she would stop wriggling. But I didn't.

I ran a hand through my hair and pulled it slightly as I groaned, rubbing my eyes. The sun was shining in through the window. Another night of no sleep.

I thought about waking the girl who refused to tell me her name but she looked so peaceful with a strand of hair falling across her face. Her nose scrunched up as it tickled her and I smiled softly, watching her.

What the hell was I doing? Usually I would've left the girl standing out in the rain after refusing to get in my car. But I didn't, for some unknown reason I felt the need to protect her. When she fell asleep in my car she looked so small and helpless, I didn't want to wake her.

So, I brought her home and carried her to bed. I slept next to her, on top of the covers but I barely got an hour's sleep. It's been this way since I can remember.

I quietly left the room and made my way downstairs, not wanting to wake anyone. But the usual hum of the kettle told me that my mother was already up. Another night of no sleep for her as well I guess.

I padded into the kitchen, my sweatpants low on my waist as I yawned and scratched my head.

"How did you sleep?" She asked from the sink with her back turned. She was already showered and dressed, which told me she'd been up for hours already.

My mother was I kindest woman I'd ever known and I truly loved her with all my heart. She's the only person in this world who I trusted completely. She always worked hard and provided the best for our family since our bastard father left us with nothing.

"Fine." I lied sitting up on a stool at the counter. She handed me a mug of my usual black coffee and smiled softly, the skin by her eyes wrinkling. I took a long sip of my coffee letting the caffeine sink in slowly. Mum just stood there leaning against the counter with her own mug and a knowing smile.

"What?" I asked.

"Oh nothing." She replied turning around and going back to cooking whatever it was that was for breakfast. Eggs I hoped.

I finished my coffee quickly and turned to leave when I heard my mother's stern voice from behind me.

Shit.

"What have I told you about bringing girls home." She stated.

Shit. She saw me. How could she have seen me? And how was I supposed to explain to her that a random girl I barely knew passed out in my car.
