Light's perspective
It was a dark Monday evening. I was staring out the window in my apartment that I share with my boyfriend, L. L was curled up like normal, eating a few cakes. He looked over to me, before asking, "Do you want to go somewhere?"
I shrugged, "Do you want to go somewhere?" I looked at him. He nodded.
"Yeah, like to a restaurant." He added. I nodded. "Sounds fun."
"Your orders will be right up sirs." The waiter bowed before leaving us. L had mysteriously been on his phone for the most part.
"You suggested this, are you just going to be texting the whole time?" I looked at him, skeptic of what he was doing.
"Sorry Light, I've got some cases and stuff." He said quietly. I shook my head. I could tell he was lying, he was fully focused on the Kira case.
"Whatever, dude." I sighed. I knew something was up.
I looked over at L as we were standing on the bus. He was still on his phone, and I noticed the texts he was receiving:
L: It's alright, I'll break up with him soon.
??: Alright love, I'll see you later then.
L: Yeah. See you then.
I shook my head, looking away. I thought about continuing to read, but decided not to. I wasn't sure what to make of the situation we were in, so I waited before jumping to conclusions.
"Hey Light, what do you say to some ice cream when we get back?" L looked at me.
"You normally eat sweets, so I don't care." I replied, my tone harsher than I meant it.
"Is something wrong?" L had a worried expression. I looked at his eyes, trying to read him. I couldn't find anything, he seemed normal and calm.
"No." I responded. I sighed looking away. He shrugged.
L's perspective
Light was acting off.
I noticed it from when we were having dinner. He seemed... unusual. I guessed it was just because I was texting a lot. I didn't mean to... well, it was hard to explain. I was texting someone else I had in mind, as in romantically. I didn't want to hurt Light, but I only got close to him for the Kira case. But I'm not so sure he's Kira. He's still a suspect, of course. But then again, I felt as though he was trustworthy. He had helped much, however I still suspect he could be Kira.
"Lawliet, riddle me this." I heard him say from across the couch, "Why are you texting another person rather than spending time with your boyfriend?"
I shook my head, "I don't know what you're talking about." I knew something was up, he never called me Lawliet. Too formal.
"And why exactly does this person refer to you as 'love'?" He asked.
"Well, its just a term of endearment. It doesn't symbolize anything." I responded.
"Why are you spending time with them tonight?" He pressed further.
"Light, you're reading too much into this. It's just a friend. Don't worry about it." I said.
"Really? When are you going to break up with me? Just do it instead of waiting." He said, a dark look in his eyes.
"Light, it's not like that..."
"No. I already saw everything. Just do it L. I don't care anymore. It doesn't matter." He looked away.
I felt a sharp pain in my chest. I started panicking, unsure of what was happening.
"Light..." I said, my breaths getting short and shaky. I knew what was happening. I gave in, and let it happen.
"I'm sorry Lawliet. I had no choice." He said, staring at the other wall.
"Incorrect, Kira." I said, before passing out.
