Breaking Up With You

Its been two weeks.

Two weeks of that constant beeping echoing inside my head as I wait for the love of my life to gain consciousness. So much has happened in this long time, yet to me it feels like nothing has happened at all. The members called Jinny as soon as we all gathered in the lobby of the hospital that horrid night. I faintly heard the voices of my members trying to calm down my girlfriends crying best friend as she burst through the hospital doors demanding to see Y/N.
Now she sits next to the motionless body of Y/N, counting down the minutes, waiting for her bestfriend to wake up.
Jinny feels guilty for not being with Y/N at the time of the accident. She feels horrible.

But that is nothing compared to what I feel. I feel responsible. I was there. With her. Looking at her. Yet i couldn't do anything. I could only watch as the car-

"Jungkook. Your crying again." I hear the soft voice of Jimin before he puts a reassuring hand on my shoulder.
"Take some rest. We will be with her", he says. I firmly shake my head. Im not leaving her. If something else happens to her while im not here, I will lose my sanity. She is the only thing keeping me together right now.

The same process followed on for another 2 weeks. Countless nights spent at the bed side of Y/N. I have given up on sleep. Whenever I close my eyes all I can see is the horror on her face that night.

We have finally started going to practice again. I dont feel anything. My body is numb. I go into practice and my body just moves on its own. Im flown back to my memories as a trainee. Those late nights when my body had no energy but my mind carried my body through the dance moves, almost like a habit. During the middle of rehearsal Bang PD-nim came inside.
"Jungkook see me for a bit." He said. I see the worried looks of my brothers as I step outside. I dont want to think of what he will say. I just know it wont be good.
Sitting down in an unfamiliar chair infront of PD's desk, I look up to see the worried eyes of my mentor. "Jungkook, how are you?" He cautiously asks, knowing fully well how I'm feeling. I dont answer avoiding eye contact as I look at my hands tightly clasped in my lap. "Look Jungkook. I dont want to make this hard on you, but I am your boss-", he says taking in a deep breath, "-you guys have been on hiatus for a whole month now. Broadcasting companies have been pestering us with questions." He gives out a loud sigh. "They want you to join a variety show", he finally says.
My head snaps up. Me? On a variety show? Why? I look up at him, and he seems to understand my concerns.
"Its a singing show. There was a poll on who should be the next judge and you were ellected." He says, now avoiding my eyes. I know its hard for him to tell me this. Besides being my boss, he is as close to a father to me, I know it was hard for him to approach me about this. I look down again. My brain doing cartwheels trying to process everything. "Jungkook-" he says giving my shoulder a reassuring squeeze. When did he move next to me? I have no idea. "I know this is all hard for you right now, but your an idol. You need to do your job." I look up and his eyes are filled with concern. I nod my head. "I wont let you down." I say, trying my best to keep my voice firm. PD-nim nods at my decision and leaves the office. Now that I'm alone I slump back onto the chair. What does this mean? Should I leave Y/N? Should I stay? After hours of thought I finally reach my decision. Walking out of the office with new found confidence I make my way to Y/N's hospital.

Reaching the hospital lobby I notice all my members already there. I lock eyes with Taehyung, asking a silent question. "The doctors are inside doing a regular check up", he informs me. I nod my head in reply. "What did Bang- PD say?" Asks Namjoon coming to stand next to me. All eyes turn to me as I breath in and tell them everything.

Finally the doctors come out after what seems like years. Jinny joined us in the lobby soon after I told my members everything. As we wait outside the room for the doctors to leave, they come out smiling. We all look a them confused. What are they smiling about? Finally the last doctor leaves. She is the head doctor in charge of Y/N. "You may all go in. She is waiting for you."
Confused we all walk inside the room only to stop dead in our tracks, faced with the image of Y/N sitting on her bed gazing out her window.

"Y/N..."
You hear Jinny whisper as she slowly approached her. Y/N slowly turns her head in our direction. Her eyes focus on Jinny and she break out into a smile before being englulfed into a hug by her bestfriend. She closes her eyes. Leaning into Jinny as the latter rants on about how worried she was. All you can do is look on with wide eyes and an open mouth. Finally Jinny pulls away and looks back at all of you. Relief and joy filling her face. "Guys! She is back!" She squeels. Just then Y/N turns her head to face all of you. See looks at you all carfully. Her eyes going from; Taehyung, Jimin, Jin, Hoesok, Namjoon, Yoongi and then finally resting on you. Confusion fills her eyes as she looks at Jinny and asks the question that instantly breaks your heart.

"Who are they?"

Your mind went blank. All you could hear was the muffled voices of your members as they go closer to Y/N and ask her if she is joking.
"Y/N. You dont remember me? At all!?!" Asks Taehyung. He looks to be on the brink of tears. The rest of them a step away from reaching her bed, as you stay glued to the entrance. Without knowing it you move forward. Brushing past the members until you stand right next to Y/N. "Do you remember me?" You ask. Your voice a mere whisper as you hold onto your last shard of hope. As she looks into your eyes you see confusion, anger and pity. She scans your face and more empathy fills her eyes.

"Are you someone important? Im sorry I dont know you." She weakly says, downcasting her eyes to the floor.

It feels like someone punched your chest. It aches all over. You didnt know your where crying until a salty teardrop goes into your slightly open mouth.

You swiftly turn on your heal and walk out the door, but before shutting it you whisper one last thing.

"You broke our promise Y/N"

Yep might not the happy sappy and romantic finish like all the other books and fanfics but I thought, Why not? 🤷.
Im going to be making a sequel to this book soon. Im already in the midst of writing it.
