"I'm going to Murello's."
Petra slapped the bed. Her sex-slash-sleep mussed hair gently tumbled around her shoulders as she sat up abruptly. "You've got to be kidding me. We just had a whole date night to make up for all the time you've been out too much, and you're about to go out again?"
Magdalen looked down at Petra's softly bruised breasts, then back up. "I made you come, didn't I?"
"Magdalen!"
She buttoned up her pants then crawled back into bed until she was hovering over Petra's legs. "I'm only joking. But I have to go. Today's an important day."
Petra didn't try to wriggle away. Instead she grabbed Magdalen's face and peered into it. She gripped flesh harder than necessary. "What's so important?"
"Today will determine where my business will go. If all goes well, I'll take you out again."
"What does that have to do with Murello?"
"I trust his advice. I want today to go smoothly."
Petra nearly pouted, running her thumb along Magdalen's lips. "Are you expanding or something? Is it going to mean you'll be gone more often?"
"Sort of. But I already have plans in place to better regulate the work. I'll have more free time if I do everything right. So can I go? I'd like to get it started."
"Oh, alright." Petra gave a soft kiss. Then another. "Mm. You did make me come."
Magdalen hummed. "Don't go anywhere. I'll be back later."
Petra smirked then fell back and stretched her arms over head. She lifted a leg to press it up into Magdalen's crotch, murmuring, "Don't make me wait too long."
Magdalen leaned down to kiss Petra's thigh, then she got out of bed and finished getting ready. She said nothing as Petra watched her and continued to keep silent when she was ready to leave. She simply planted a quick kiss to Petra's cheek before going.
Downstairs, Olive yipped at her, and she nodded at him. He knew she was leaving and she knew he was alert. The magic in him was still potent, and she left him feeling good about that.
She slipped into her car and inched out into the street, coming to a stop at the sidewalk. She rolled down her window and asked, "Did you get them?"
Declan squinted in the morning sun but shivered in the cold. "Got them last night when you told us. Didn't tell you because I didn't want to interrupt. We've all been up all night dealing with this. Murello's been sending us all over the city, but I figured I should stay here, just in case."
Magdalen rested her arm on the window's sill. "I appreciate that. I'm going to see Murello now. Want to come? Or too tired?"
"I took a power nap. I'm good to go." He slipped into the car and buckled up. "Should I get someone to watch your house?"
"No. It's protected from anyone that shouldn't be there. Since you took out my tail everything should be just fine." She rolled up her window then turned on the heater. "It's getting fucking cold."
"I'm surprised it hasn't snowed yet. It usually does by now."
Magdalen grunted. She drove on in silence for minutes, but then asked, "How is Kist?"
"Not any better."
"He'll probably die if he continues on like this."
"... Probably."
