She had green eyes you could drown in. Zoe and I had been together for 5 years. I thought today was the day I would ask her to marry me. We were both in New Zealand rebuilding towns after the earthquake. We stayed in the same hut, It was 3:00 AM and I looked over my shoulder and saw that Zoe wasn't there. I bolted out of bed and started screaming "ZOE, ZOE" no answer. I was pacing back and forth inside out hut. I soon figured that she had gone cut to go for a walk and would be back at any minute. I fell back asleep. The next morning I woke up and looked over my shoulder once again, Zoe wasn't there. This time I panicked. I went out to tell the leader of our environment group. She said she hadn't seen Zoe since yesterday afternoon. So I decided to go look for her by myself.

I spent 12 hours looking for her. It was now 6:00 PM.  There was no sign of Zoe. I wouldn't give up. The next day I looked at the newspaper. Turns out there were 15 recruits missing, Zoe was on the list. I flipped to the next page. Zoe's body was found in the woods. She had been strangled. Since then I had not been able to move on. I stopped talking with anyone and shut myself away. One day I took my own life a year after Zoe's death.  Just so I could be with her.
