Addie walked slowly through the streets of a once beautiful Rome. Ever since the apocalypse the streets had been bare. Hardly anyone had survived, and those who did resorted to living underground. There were vast tunnels ans chambers, all connecting, like ants. Unlike everyone else, Addie enjoyed being on the surface. At least there was real air, though the sight was disturbing.

Dead, rotting bodies covered the ground, buildings lay in crumbled heaps, there was nothing around but death and destruction, their current lives. Addie could still remember a time when the land was nice when there was life.

"Welcome to the new world...." she muttered under her breath, distaste dripping from her every word as she continued to walk, kicking rubble as she went.

The whole world seemed to be silent, as though the Apocalypse really had killed everyone, everything. It angered the female, people had been so careless, and now here they where, with no real home to go to, nothing to show for what they had done other than some tunnels underground and the destruction of the world.

Addie was used to being alone, most people enjoyed the world they had created for themselves, but she couldn't stand it. It was too tight and claustrophobic. She much preferred the ash filled air of the surface. As she continued to walk, her hands stuffed in her pockets, head low, she heard a noise beside her. Startling her, there was never anyone up here.... at least, not that she had seen, and she spent most of her life up her.

"Hello?" she called as she looked around, trying to find out were the noise had come from and who, or what it was.

"Hello?" A male voice sounded in the distance, making Addie even more curious.

"How are you?" Her voice strong and determined, though this was scaring her a little.

"Danny, who are you?" The male voice called back as she heard the footsteps getting closer. As she heard more of him, he started to sound more familiar.

"Addie...." she called back before she heard the footsteps arrive right next to her, looking up she blinked and took a step back.

"Danny.... Parker?" she asked as she blinked and tilted her head to the side.

"Addie Williams?" he replied as he stepped closer again.

"I thought you left!" she said as she bit her lip and watched him closely. Danny and Addie had been child hood friends, together since birth, their parents had been pregnant together and ended up as strong friends. After many years together, the pair began to date. But Addie's father got a new job and Danny's parents didn't like what it was (it helped cause the Apocalypse) the pair had been separated... lied to and finally, they found each other.

"I missed you" Danny breathed as he wrapped his strong arms around her waist and pulled her close, kissing the top of her head.

"I missed you too. I hate what dad did. He caused all this, he pulled us away from each other!" she whimpered into his chest.

"But it also brought us back together" Danny smiled, gently cupping her chin and pulling her face up to his as he kissed her gently.

"I never stopping thinking about you, Addie" he breathed into her soft hair.

"I never stopped thinking about you either... when all this started, all I wanted was to be with you. If the world was going to end, you where the only person I wanted to be with"

"I know baby, but I'm here now" he whispered before he kissed her again, his arms tightening around her waist to draw her closer as her arms snaked around his neck.
