My breath came out in delicate, white puffs. It traveled through the air, and dissipated, as though shy to meet the moon's silver gaze. The stars brightly lit the dark night's sky, though the shimmer of it was not nearly enough to give me light to see the earth around me.
My nose was nipped by the frosty snow, but I was numb to it. My fingers were clenched tightly to my shirt, as if they were frozen solid. I let my gaze wander to the pond and I peered at my reflection.
I was twitching....
Snowflakes had been caught in the trap of my yellow hair, my nose was red and raw, and my face was as pale as ever.
Stark's Pond was beautiful during this time of night. The moon's bright shine reflected wonderfully across the ice, and it looked so tempting to touch, that my fingers itched.
I was twitching....
My heart beat sped up, and I knew, without uncertainty, or the trembles of hesitation to hinder me, that tonight was the night.
Though still largely frozen over, I knew for a fact that Stark's Pond had a few weak spots. I can remember Token's voice from just this morning at school griping over the fact that he almost had to drag Clyde out from a hole in the pond. Clyde pulled himself out, scared of dying, and luckily recovered from the cold shock of water in time to haul himself up and over the edge.
I wasn't scared of dying though... I was still twitching ....
I Unclasped my fingers, and my numb legs moved forwards. My feet touched the ice, and I heard a satisfying crack. I kept walking, and for once, I didn't feel the urge to scream. My heart was still racing, but I don't think it was from fear this time.
I traveled slowly, yet deliberately.
My eyes could barely see through the fogginess of the air, but I had enough vision to see my feet. I kept walking, and surely, an almost frozen over hole was in the pond, and my breath hitched.
I lowered myself onto the icy floor, and scooted myself to the edge.
I dipped my foot in, just to test the water, and brought it back with a screech.

Ice cold.
I let out a breath, and stood up. I wasn't twitching anymore.
I took the plunge.
