We sped off through the city of France towards the house my mom just bought. She was a director for a mainly American television series which recently ended. However one of her other actors told her about some new movie here in France that needed a new director. The old one quit recently because they couldn't see the life in the actors faces.

No matter how many things you say to help change the expression on an actors face it's always just a guess and check thing. Honestly what's the emotion people have when they're a fruit being put into a blender? No seriously, I want to know. I never understood what that meant.

Oh, yeah. Should probably mention I'm a actor. I've had tons of acting roles throughout my life. I've never been the main character, but I've been plenty of secondary characters that help the main character. It's a tuff job and the fans are annoying at least over here they may not recognize me.

The good thing is that right now I'm not doing any acting jig, so I can try and be a normal kid for once. At least for a little while, there's bound to be another role that some weirdo says I'm destined to play in their movie. That's another thing about me I've never worked in a series only movies probably cause I was only a kid then but now that I'm a teenager lots of role offers have come up for series.

" We've arrived; your mother says the maids are helping with move in. But, she says you can unpack your things if you wish." My new driver called. I walked out and open the door it was a nice big house. It was on some street that had some famous French guy on it to. What was it again? I don't know, but we have some dinner thing arranged over at their household. Something business wise was going on, so the guy could have a multitude of talents that she'll need to help her new series become a successful.

" Welcome back young man." One of the new maids called out we've always had a couple around but with the new larger house we got a few more.

" Thank you, I'll be up in my room unpacking my things. When was the dinner again?" I asked, I'd have to wear my fancy 'business' clothes for bit.

" Six o'clock sharp! Your mother will be meeting you there." She replied, busying herself with sweeping the floor.

I walked up the stairwell my hand caressing the cool smooth railing. My room had all the boxes put in it along with a made bed, dresser, and a closet filled with my clothes. I suppose they didn't really want me to have to do everything myself.

Oh well, a least there's somethings for me to do. I opened each box one by one emptying out the contents and placing the items around my room the way I'd like for them to be. Until another small box catch my eye, it wasn't a cardboard box though. It was small and hexagonally shaped with intricate red carvings embedded on the surface.

I held it and examined it. Perhaps, one of the maids lost it and left it here on accident. I carried it with me out into the hallway.

" Did anyone lose this?" I asked holding it up for them to see. My question was rewarded with shaking heads. I continued my search until I made sure why I had found wasn't someone else's lost property.

I returned to my room box still in hand and without the answer to who's this was. I closed the door with a soft rumble. Curious, I lifted the lid and peered inside only to be blinded by an orb of glowing gray. I shielded my eyes with my bruised arm.

"Ouch, that's nasty. Did you try and fight villains without me." A small sarcastic and slightly cocky voice rang out. That definitely wasn't one of the maids. I lowered my arm to be nose to nose with a....a...? I moved back to get a better look it was a small flying squid?! Wait, that just talked too!?

"Okay who's doing this? What special effects prank is this?" I called out walking around the room swiping my arms looking for an strings it ropes or something. Anything, that would explain what this thing was. To my dismay and utter disbelief I found none.

" You done here, can I get on with my lines as you actors would say." The thing said.

" Hold on. What are you and why are you here and....Oh. I get it I'm dreaming! I'll just pinch myself and this will all be over and I'll wake up." The thing rolled it's eyes. I pinched my good arm and opened my eyes to find IT, whatever it was, still floating around my room touching everything with all its arms.

" Okay, now that that's over with. I'll explain everything. I'm a Kwami and not a figment of your imagination! You are the new holder of my miraculous. You get to be a hero! " The thing said waving its arms wildly and making clapping noses. I just stared at the thing.

" Not the smartest cookie in the batch, huh. Never mind the you'll be fine. You'll have a partner to help you out. " it continued.

" Um, a partner so they'll be going through this whole thing too?" To whomever my partner is I'm sincerely sorry for inadvertently dragging you into this mess.

" So am I Squidman or something?" I asked it seemed like a close bet.

" No! I'm an octopus much better than squids, trust me. Also my names Slate and yours is Tyler right?" How did he know my name?! I meekly nodded somehow I knew that if I lied this thing, Slate, would be able to tell. And I didn't want to make this thing mad.

" Cool, now just listen. Your superhero is tied to Chat Noir as the kids named himself. Your powers are also sort of aligned with his, but you also have your partner. She'll be the girl in the green or whatever color she wants, point is if there's a girl dressed up sort like a lizard that's her." Slate paused looking at me to make sure I was still listening and then started back up again.

" Your miraculous will be this ring like Cat boys. It's complicated there's a whole square balance thingy, but just know you have to wear this at all times. He tossed me this plain simple copper colored ring. And I slipped the ancient metal onto my finger.

" Okay, there's a lot more to explain. But, it can wait. I, however, am in need of some chips. You do have those now a day, I don't have to explain it right?" He asked blue eyes wide with desperation.

" Yes, I know what chips are." I answer he cheered and twirled around and then tried to calm himself down.

It was pretty funny. I managed to stifle a chuckle. " Good, I'll need that to recharge after battles, but don't worry about that now we should go test you out! Been forever, your phrase is Slate Mimic Me. It's a little strange, but deal with it. I'm a mimic octopus and it rhymes or whatever that's called man I hated the renaissance it was full of big old words."

" Oh, yeah one more thing no one can see you but your partner and you CAN not tell anyone I exist or about your superhero. Well, maybe you can make small talk with gecko girl about that but yeah. Be invisible that's the goal."

" Tyler, it's almost time for the dinner!" One of the maids called out from somewhere in the house.

" Not now I have to go to a dinner party, just stay here." I called.

I ran into my closet and changed into my nice pants and shirt and fancy shoes and combed my hair in the bathroom. The pants were brown dress pants, the shirt a simple long sleeve gray, black and white checker pattern. My shoes were also a brown to compliment the pants. It was considered semi dressy back where I used to live.

I made sure my ring was on while sprinting out the door and through startled maids. I felt a small poke in my chest pocket.

" I'm going with you that's another part of the deal." My new kwanza, no, kwam-e whispered.

I hopped in the car and we drove off to the dinner destination.
