Whoa! That was a long break! In the meanwhile, I have managed to do a lot of stuff.
I finally graduated. That wasn't an easy task. Even in the last semester, I managed to fail in a subject - Fourier Analysis. But the back paper exam went well. The professor was a bit of a retard though. If you know a bit of Math, you'll understand. A question asked us to prove that, given two metrics d_1 and d_2, the square root of (d_1^2+d_2^2) is also a metric. How hard can it be? I wrote out the solution pretty well and was aghast to see that I had got 10 out of 15. As I was trying to find out where I had gone wrong the prof told me that he had been very "liberal" while checking my paper. It took 10 minutes to convince him that my solution was perfect and get him to give me my due marks. I should have checked my original exam answer sheet. Possibly, I hadn't failed at all! :|
I did a lot of other stuff too in the summer. I visited Kolkata and Chennai, but more on those later. Right now, I have suddenly developed an interest in Extremal Combinatorics. According to Wikipedia, it is the study of "how large or how small a collection of finite objects can be, if it has to satisfy certain restrictions". If you know Math, you'll probably know that Extremal Combinatorics is a natural precursor to Probabilistic Combinatorics, a subject I am very interested in.
By the way, I am currently in Mumbai, spending time with my parents. We have shifted from Vashi to Goregaon. The new house is nice. A bit smaller than the other one, but there's a cute dog in the society. The internet is pretty good. I had no idea that MTNL offers such good plans.
Feels good to see my diary taking on a mathematical flavor at last. Hoping to be regular again.
